Hi All,
How to upload a document *.doc and image *.gif or *.jpg or .pdf file as an attachment to the fourm.
Please help!
Thanks in advance
Here is the solution:
To this forum or Orca?
Either way... The Tree Icon in the tinymice editor is for uploading images. Copy and Paste Word Processing Document is the ClipBoard Icon.
You can't upload an actual document, image, or file to the forum
specifically. You can copy and paste text. You can link to the file, document,
image, etc. but it first needs to be uploaded/stored on the
internet(somesite/yoursite) first.
If you want to link to a document or
file first upload it somewhere
like:
yoursite.com/documents/document1.doc
Then in the forum you can
create a link to it like
Download the document1.doc now
Highlight
that text with your mouse and click on the "Insert/Edit Link" (looks like a
chain link) 2 icons to the left of the anchor.
Then when the new window
opens you enter
Link url:
http://www.yoursite.com/documents/document1.doc
save changes.
This
creates a link. When people click on "Download the document.doc now" They can
either go to it or right click save as to there local computer.
For an
image you can insert this into the forum, but it first needs to be uploaded
somewhere again to something like:
yoursite.com/images/image1.jpg
Then
click on the tree looking icon just to the right of the anchor. Enter:
image
url: http://www.yoursite.com/image/image1.jpg
save changes.
Then you
can use tinymce editor to align it center or whatever else you want.
In
some of the popup windows you can also enter a description, title,
etc.
If you have a good understanding of html. You can use the html
button in the editor to enter the same info using html instead such as <a
href=" http://www.mysite.com/documents/document1.doc " title=" document1
">Download the document1.doc now</a>
Images would be <img
src=" yoursite.com/image/image1.jpg " alt=" image1 ">
(note I did put
spaces (=" )yoursite to get this text to display right in the forum without
reading as html. You would really have no space between the quotation mark and
yoursite.com, etc.
At any rate the file, picture, document, etc. has to
reside somewhere. Something like an image can be one you uploaded with your
dolphin image gallery. Just link to the actual location of the file.
Hope
that helps a little and I didn't ramble on too
much.
