More information about HostGator

BoonEx: Which servers does your company offer for BoonEx customers?

HostGator: The best plan is most likely going to be the "baby" package for 9.95 a month with no contracts. The coupon code “HGboonex” makes that plan only 1 cent the first month.

BoonEx: Are there any special programs (discounts) for customers referred by BoonEx?

HostGator: As said above, “HGBoonex” will give that plan 9.94 off the first month.

BoonEx: Do your servers meet all BoonEx products technical requirements, and can you provide us/them with all the necessary accesses so the software can be installed properly?

a) Is there a possibility to use .htaccess or php.ini for local PHP setup?

b) Is it possible to use phpMyAdmin?

c) Is it possible to use SSH ?

d) Do you help customers to create domain names and register their nameservers?

e) Do you open the necessary ports per customer's requirement? (if someone would like to run several Ray Media Servers)

f) Would the site activity logs be available for a customer in case some problems appeared?

HostGator: Our servers should meet most product tech requirements, if you’d like to send a list I can confirm them as well. You may use .htaccess to modify settings for your site. Jailed SSH is available free of charge. We register and create a customers domain if they choose to purchase one. Ports can be opened if requested and detailed activity and error logs are available through cpanel.

BoonEx: Why should customers choose you as a Hosting provider?

HostGator: Customers should choose us because we are a no contract, no scam, transparent web host. We do not lock anyone in and we offer the best guarantees in the industry. A 45 day money back, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. We offer support 24/7 via phone, chat and tickets all in house at our 200+ employee headquarters and call center in Houston, Texas.

Well they basically avoided all the questions.. I can tell you that they said theirself they don't support ffmpeg.

I'm using Host gator with no problems

Well actually buck you are correct. Im with hostgator and they are a great host, just not for dolphin. They have stated on the support forum to a member who is having issue's with his dolphin, that a dolphin is not permitted on their shared servers and you have to go to a dedicated server. So disstudem and nix, if you are on HG shared servers, then there are a few reasons why your dolphin is running still, you havent any members, you aren't using video or music uploads to any degree, or you simply see more havent been caught yet.

I have been with with hostgator for years and run numorous freeware and paid data transfer services with no issues. They only have ever given me any problems when i was running software that (accidentally) allowed for upload of copywritten materials. And with that, they just brought it to my attention, no threats or demands.

Hostupon's one-click install script works pretty good, all except the forums (Orca) link. This page come across with some of the markup echoed out to the page. I asked them about it and here was the response:
-------------------
Our shared/reseller service supports Dolphin. Orca and RMS (Ray video chat) are not supported on shared hosting.

It looks like Orca requires Dom/Xlst which is a component for php that is only available on our private hosting.
--------------------

Just a heads up see more to those of you who are having the same troubles that I am. So my options are 1)don't use the forums or 2)purchase private hosting.

Hostupon seems to be great from a support, one-click Dolphin install, and reseller package perspective, but it'd be better if Orca would work too. Anyone know of a different host that has it all?

Oops - sorry for the post here - I meant to post that in HostUpon's page. My bad.

I'm using Host gator with no problems!

I have used them for over 18 month and had no problems at all.. I'd give them 23.1 out of 10 !!
genesis
there's no mentioning of ffmpeg support in their page.
you guys who have no problem, do you use video uploads and chat?
are you using shared or dedi ?
midiwhale
Yes.
We need to be very careful when talking about hosts and (full) Boonex support.
I had this exact problem before. Boonex recomended them, but ultimately I needed DEDICATED hosting from them to get ALL the features (like video) to work with them.
The pricing of dedicated meant I had to abandon using Boonex!!
Stil looking for a VPS that REALLY supports Boonex.

Hello,
I'm using Dolphin in a resellers account and haven't had any problems with Dolphin or with Hostgator as our host.

I just started a week ago. I picked HostGator and they have been great helping me with all kinds of problems I have had. Way better than other hosts I have tried over the last month.

I just check HostGator Compatible Technologies at

http://support.hostgator.com/articles/pre-sales-questions/compatible-technologies

and it states for both shared and dedicated servers that it works: Dolphin File Manager
(Must provide installation and License)

and also for Dolphin, Ray, & Orca (Boonex.com)

I will try running it and let you know

Host Gator does not offer Java support, to install RMS Server, must buy a Dedicated Server or a VPS Server

investapal
Loved Hostgator but when Dolphin was installed the video and other features would nt work. They told me I needed VPS at a minimum
Jarrette
investapal i get the same answer from HG... I am not even getting email notification for new users when they sign up. Can anyone suggest a hosting company that will give me the best bang for my buck and can transfer what i already have up and running?
Hello I'm using BeanyHost.for my site, and have been for 2 years without problems.
HostGator is great for most things, but they will NOT setup a shared account to support the Dolphin requirements. I've been with them for years, and I'm searching for a new host for that very reason. I don't want to go to a VPS or dedicated server for a brand new site that I have no idea whether it will be successful or not.

I just found out that they charge an additional $75 for RMS. No mention of this before I went with them during presale questions or during the setup of the server to meet Dolphin requirements. And no mentione of it a week ago when they said everything was set up according the list of Dolphin specifications, with RMS on the list. The first mention of $75 extra was when I asked for the deets of the RMS to enter into my Flash Apps settings.

I love hostgator in general, which is why I decided to see more bump up my 4 yr old shared acct to a VPS acct and stay with them after my nightmarish experience w/ arvixe (boooooo hisssssss). In every other respect they've been great about the set-up and they have great customer service. But throwing in a $75 fee w/o warning? Not even mentioning that the RMS wasn't set up when they sent the "everything's set up" email? Totally bogus.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
