Orca on Firefox Displaying Code Instead of Layout? Anyone else? Or know how to fix this?

Ok so i installed the latest version of dolphin, and everything is working fine, except ORCA. When trying to view the forums in Firefox web browser a page is displayed with alot of code and it continues on and takes up the whole page

But then i can see this underneath it perfectly and not in text form (as you would expect it to look as part of the script/template):

Forums Index (Manage Forum | Reported Posts)

  • Forums
  • Topics
  • Latest Post
Forums Spy (a real-time view of activity)

and that displays ok. And if you are viewing a groups forum you can even see the posting box displayed with alot of code above it, and alot of code below it.

However if you view the page in Internet Explorer the page displays fine. Is anyone else having this problem, and is there anything i can do to fix it? Alot of my users will no doubt be using firefox so i hope someone might be able to help me or shed some light on the subject Thanks i really appreciate it!

Try this:

download your .htaccess file from your orca directory and add the following to your file:

AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php
load it back up and check...
re upload your .htaccess file...

If you get "headers already sent" be sure and log back out clear your cache and try again.

This worked for me and now my FF shows perfectly.

I tried this but now FireFox wants to download this.
I also tried

AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php

beacause I´m using PHP5 but didn´t work.
Another possibility?

Of course I meant:

AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php

well not sure if this is the answer any of you are looking for, but i had the same problem with orca. couldnt get it figured out, done all that was posted on here regarding doing the .htaccess edit, that didnt do anything except display the source code. if that line was not on the htaccess, then i was prompted to download the php4 file.

well my last resort was to troubleshoot some files. i have not got everything done that i set out to do, but this will work and hopefully you wont have any problems see more out of it. i took the orca folder from v6.0.0003 and uploaded it over on the server overwriting the orca folder installed on v6.0.0005. this is most likely a temporary fix, but it certainly worked out for me.

What about for 6.1. i tried all the above and nothing worked

Exact same problem... I use 6.1 and I get the code problem in firefox.

Support for this product is HORRIBLE so don't expect any support if you were thinking of buying the product.

this proves that Boonex did not fully test out the software in Firefox and rushed it out to the public. I have this same issue with all running versions of Dolphin and its pretty pathetic. The fact that this thread is approx almost 3 months old just goes to show you the type of support members can expect from an under staffed company like Boonex.

Layout on SeaMonkey is corrupt aswell ...

I tried this:
"AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php
load it back up and check...
re upload your .htaccess file..."

Now my firefox browser won't let me into the forum at all. So, how do you undo this mess?

I have the same issue after installing the 6.1.4 latest release. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Code is displaying when clicking on Forum menu from Flock 1.2.4 and Firefox 2. Also, nothing is displayed on Netscape 8.1.3.

Also, when the Dolphin and Orca pages are accessed with IE after Javascript debugging is enabled, there are a few errors that display starting from the Member Login form. I hope module contributors or those who maintain Dolphin and Orca test each page with IE after enabling Javascript debugging so that they know what I am talking about.

Wow.. what amazing support. I might just buy it. Not.

Please, check first if your PHP is compiled with xml and xls support.
After enabling XLS, working for me.

I have the same problem. Firefox is tossing me a bunch of source code, while in Opera and IE7 the page shows properly.

I see everyone talking about enabling XLS and XML support, but as far as I can see it is enabled.

xml
XML Support active
XML Namespace Support active
libxml2 Version 2.6.30

xsl
XSL enabled
libxslt Version 1.1.21
libxslt compiled against libxml Version 2.6.30
EXSLT enabled
libexslt Version 1.1.21

I'm a bit at a loss here. Has anyone been able to actually see more solve this problem?

To me it looks like the !DOCTYPE meta is missing when viewing the source in Firefox. It's there when using any other browser, even wget or curl.
killbilly
wow.... this thread is almost a year old.

i also have this issue in firefox... above i've read many ppl saying to make sure xsl support is on your server....well, if it weren't on the server then it wouldn't display in ie either, right?

HAS ANYONE FIGURED OUT A FIX FOR THIS YET????
please help

I tried all the other fixes and what made the difference for me was having my host recompile PHP with:

--with-dom-xslt and --with-dom-exslt

That made it work.

I had to to go to VPS hosting, as that degree of customization was not available in other hosting packages.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
