Using Facebook Connect

From what i have seen, there has been a few posts about setting up facebook connect.
I seen another post yesterday about it i do believe and thought to make it simple, i would do a video showing how to get it set up.
In this case i think seeing what i am doing would be easier to understand than writing it out in a blog.

Awesome Job on that video. Show's just how smooth it can be to set up the FBC and will definitely be a huge help to many!

I see that D7 account is automatically added in D7 database, does it? What happens when that facebook user deletes their facebook account? The D7 account is still there... the user cannot log in D7 account because of password....

User has to contact site admin to reset password in order to keep account on D7?

Great demo.

Yes, when a user logs in via facebook, he will be stored in the Profiles table.
I would think that if a user was to deactivate their facebook they would no longer be able to log in.
I believe the login does rely on the login credentials from FB.
Who knows...i've been wrong before lol but that's my theory.

Thanks for the comment to

Well you can't really delete a facebook account, just "deactivate" it. Even then you can still login facebook and it will re-activate it.. so they should be able to login Dolphin either way.

Thanks for the info, i wasn't aware of that in facebook.
Oh My Goodness, This would of been so helpful to have on the module inside the admin panel to use the facebook connect. Is their a way to gather more information from the users account that's already in facebook when joining? This will complete more of their account inside the system? Just wondering thank goodness I found this link in the forum.

One thing that I've noticed happening with facebook connect on boonex.us, is that your account name is always your first name from your facebook information. I don't know what will happen if another user with the same first name attempts to use facebook connect to sign up. Furthermore, it so seems that you are allowed to change your nickname. I tried changing my nickname from my real first name into my chosen nickname, and it let me change it without asking me to provide a password. So after logging see more out of my account, I couldn't log back in because my account didn't have any password set. So I tried to use facebook connect again to login to the site, which instead of logging me to my already created account, it went on to create a brand new account again.. using my first name.

Seeing that the facebook connect module doesn't have any more options than the api and secret keys, this could create serious problems with the user management and accounting. Any workaround there?

Good point with the first name thing...i'm not sure what would happen.
Now that users can create their own facebook url (facebook.com/username) it should be set up where you have to use your facebook url username to login using facebook connect however not everyone has that set up and not sure if it's still available on facebook or not.
Maybe just using their email address...no 2 email addresses are the same and in order to log in to facebook you need to login with your email address.
The bottom see more line is i do think something could be done about it weather it's from facebook or boonex...i strongly think that facebook would have to include that though.

I logged in using Facebook Connect and all of a sudden I'm 11 years younger in my profile on Dolphin script !!

And no, I didn't cheat with my date of birth on Facebook. So how can this happen ????
wolf2217
I'm not sure if you were to make a change in the Date of birth section of the script itself if that would cause it to happen.
The DOB should appear on your site the same way it does on FB,
This didn't help me at all. When I go to the facebook.com/developer page, and go through the steps, I don't see the "connect" on my screen as seen here. Did FB change the layout? When i follow the directions, go to my site and connect via FB, it just takes me to my FB page.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
