You wont be able to install ffmpeg on a shared host. If you have shared hosting only your hosting company can install ffmpeg as root access will be required.

If you have vps or dedicated you can install ffmpeg. It's kind of a pain in the you know what if you're not familiar with linux command line, or where to get it for that matter, but it can be done.
