The thing I hear mentioned about linux often is that it does a better job at handling memory and freeing it up. Where windows hangs or takes much longer to recover.

Guess it's a matter of preference. Linux is certainly something to play around with but I think a lot of people get frustrated and don't give it a chance because they are so used to the windows environment. If it takes more than 2 clicks than that's it they are done with see more it.
