There is a bug where avatars get deleted when users add each other as friends.

PS - thought I posted a reply to this thread, but it does not seem to be here any more!? It basically said - go live - don't wait to get the site polished. If it takes you 3 months to polish the site to where you are happy with it before having an official launch - at least you will see more have 3 months worth of search engine history and members.
