I remember when the internet was first taking off, there was no google at the time. Yahoo was there as well as a bunch of other search engines that I don't think exist anymore or they are powered by google in some form.

I remember typing in a keyword and only getting 10-20 results. Can you imagine...those days are long gone now. That was in the day that network solutions controlled domain registration. It was $35 per year with 2 year minimum purchase. So if you wanted a domain/site it was $70 see more just to get a domain, not too mention hosting was a lot, very limited to what you could do, and almost no space or bandwidth.
