Select default country for all dropdown

How can i select a different country than Afganistan for my default country in the drop down menus.  I have United States as front page default country but that has no affect on the drop down menus.

have you tried to change it here: Builders/Profile Fields -Join Page

click on Country then click on Advanced and change Default value to US

That works only for the profile itself.  I'm thinking all other areas across the program that require or can list countries, such as groups, ads, and anywhere else.  The profile>country setting does not affect them.

Nope.

To change this setting, you must go to Admin > Advanced Settings > Index page settings > Default Country on Index Page. Under this section, you can change the default setting of US to AU, or whatever other country you like.

 Thanks Iworld but that only affects the join page and does not affect the listings on any of the other country selections.

I don't agree with this, but since I have been told I may lose my account here if I criticize Boonex, I have to say that I am sure their reasons are brilliant, but just a bit beyond my comprehension.

To clarify that a bit, you could put a different country on top of the country pre-defined values table, and that will make it the default for your drop downs, but there is no way that I know of to leave that country table empty,

I tried that, the predefined list you can access from admin menu is not in any order whatsoever.  The sql tables are not in any order either so I assume when they call for the list they hardcode the name sort.

I've made the necessary changes and now the country I want, appears first (default)
It must change to your different locations, like this:

http://www.sitename.com/administration/fields.php

This works fine for showing the first page, join, edit profile, and search profile county list only.  What I, and other, are looking for is a way to have all country drop-down's show a specific country first (i.e. groups, events, etc).  Apparently there is no way to make those changes at this time.

I too would like to know how to do this?
