Advanced Polls Mod Support (Modzzz) - part 2

I have a Poll with 12 Votes, but only 1 vote is listed..... Is this because they are NOT Logged in ??

@albarnes - There was an issue where members could have modified Poll answers after voting has started and this affected the statistics. On July 29th, the mod was updated to fix this so please re-upload the files.

 I keep uploading the modules folder and even though some of the files have been updated it keeps reporting being 2.0.4 version...... suggestion on a fix welcomed ;)

Patch 2.0.5 was released on July 27th. If your site is saying 2.0.4, it means you did not apply patch 2.0.5.

 Exactly, i seem to be having trouble getting 2.0.5 to over ride 2.0.4.... i copy the modules folder over and it asks me for permission to over write and i agree , then it still reports 2.0.4

Please check the patches\version_2.0.5 folder for proper installation instructions. You have not applied the patch as instructed in the readme.txt.

I cannot delete any of my polls since my upgrade to 2.0.5

 It seems the delete button isn't functional

It seems there is an issue with your upgrade as I am not replicating any issue with the delete functionality in the latest version. PM me your site details and I will check it out.

Hey Modzzz,

How can I make the Poll Choice MANDATORY. I have a member that is trying to make polls that have no options.. I would like to see the Poll Choice mandatory and remove the mandatory off the descriptions. Maybe if blank it copies the title block in the description instead of making it mandatory..

Add ordering to Poll Answers based on order created.

I've just installed the mod, but my answers are random. I entered A B C D E F G H and it's displaying E D B  C  A F G H. 

I changed and saved the order in "edit answers" but when I returned, the answers were once again out of sequence. I'm concerned because nobody else has commented about this issue. 

The following file is updated : modules/modzzz/polls/classes/BxPollsDb.php

I reinstalled it and the problem went away. Before installing it the second time, I physically cleared the site cache and deleted the Boonex poll after uninstalling it. As I only downloaded the file today I assume the new db file was included.

 currently I am having 2.0.8 and customized by you. But this module is not in my account to update to 2.0.9. so, please add to my account.

I've just noticed that the polls are not appearing on the Home Page or Profile Page. I've tried Recent, Featured, Top, but no result. I'm still using 7.3.5 on PHP 5.6

Other than that, the Polls are working perfectly and other modules such as Newsletter appear on the home page fine.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

If you check the demo site, you will notice the Poll blocks on both pages. Please note though that only items with public viewing access will show. How are you adding Recent, Featured, Top etc. blocks ? If you are using some tool to copy those blocks they probably will not work without adjustment to the code.

Now you have me totally confused. If that's the case, why on earth do you allow admins to select the other options?:

• Me Only
• Public
• Members
• Friends

Surely if only one option allows Admin to place a block on the home page and profile page, the remaining options should not be available?

I tried it on a clean Dolphin site and it works as you state, but my site no longer has "Public (3)" as an option. Mine is a Members Only site and the word "Public", as opposed to "Members" has created so much confusion. Either I deleted the option, or it disappeared when I installed your "Adult Content" module. Either way, I don't want "Public" as an option because it's confusing.

When creating the Polls, I selected "Members". I also did this on the clean install and the Poll doesn't appear on the Home Page. I consider this to be a programming BUG rather than human error, because "Members" is the option most people would select.

The database clearly shows that Members (4) has been selected. Thus, I believe you need to remove the options above, or design the module so that it works with any of the options selected.

@johnk42 - When designing Dolphin third party modules, I try to follow the convention of default modules that comes with the script to maintain consistency. The Polls module functions exactly like default Dolphin modules (Groups, Events etc.). For those modules, only items with "public" viewing appear on Homepage and Profile page. Items with other viewing privileges will have to be accessed from the module page itself. Whether that represents good design or not is a matter that should be taken up with the Dolphin script developers. As a module developer, I simply followed their established convention.

You cannot simply get rid of "public" from your site without making underlying code changes because Dolphin was designed with the expectation that this privacy option will always exist.

The following change below to Dolphin core code may help to alleviate your problem :

In inc/classes/BxDolTwigSearchResult.php

Find : 

    function setPublicUnitsOnly($isPublic)
    {
        $this->aCurrent['restriction']['public']['value'] = $isPublic ? BX_DOL_PG_ALL : false;    
    }

Replace with : 

    function setPublicUnitsOnly($isPublic) 
    { 
        $this->aCurrent['restriction']['public']['value'] = $isPublic ? BX_DOL_PG_MEMBERS : false;     
    }

The change above should allow items with "members" privacy to be shown whenever a module request to show "public" items.

Thanks Modzzz. As you know, getting the Dolphin Developers to make changes is harder than getting Caesar to build a different Rome.

I got it to work by changing the values from 4 to 3 in the database, but I'll implement your suggested changes as soon as I can find time.

Hi Modzzz, I tried your fix but it didn't do anything. I reinstated Public using Admin/Settings/Privacy Settings/Settings/Enable 'Public' group.

This raises a few questions and problems:

1. If the Public Group is essential for Dolphin to work, why would there an option to switch it off? Most members like myself will choose "Members" because Public implies that the Public may be able to see something. 
2. Is it safe to disengage Members? Then my members may understand that "Public" is meant to refer to members - just maybe? I certainly don't want both because my users will select it and it seems that "Members" doesn't work for Polls and possibly other modules of yours.

The following problem may or may not have anything to do with the above:

Home Page Block Only and tested on three sites, one of which is clean.

If a Poll is Featured, the Results and Votes buttons don't work. If I un-feature the Poll, the buttons work as expected.

On the Clean site, The buttons on a featured poll aren't aligned properly. (See attachments)

But the poll module does not appear in the point module.

Do I have to adjust something or is not it?
