I totally understand that its your call to fix or not to fix and how to fix this, but i can't hold myself back from thinking that perhaps for reason unknown to me it seem that we are trying to fix the symptoms and not the problem.
Originally when i made the ticket i did not want to use avatar because I feel it would be very strange for an end user to understand why do they need to maintain two sets of photos (it doesn't happen of FB or orkut or anywhere else one can think of). But after the ticket was fixed in a manner that the symptoms cure and not the problem - i am not left with any option but to use avatar function.
Now, I am using it but still there is a logical problem that at times there are people who do not immediately upload a picture when they sign up ( and alot of them ) , they upload pictures few days later when they feel comfortable - now they would naturally go to there profile click the profile picture to change it ( the change avatar button is far off in my account page - and is often ignored) . once they change profile pic and have no avatar again there is the same problem that they wont appear in search.
I am looking for alternative solutions to this problem, your understanding is most appreciated as no one knows this product better than you do.

Actually when Profile Photos are used for Avatars - search members with photos only is not supported.
The fix in the ticket just removes checkox from search form, but checkbox on profile browse page is still there, so I reopened ticket to remove this checkbox as well.
