Back Slash showing up in Description/ Interest fields it\'s doing this

Anyone know why backslashes are showing up in some of the text fields?

for example

If you\'re talking behind my back, you\'re

how can I prevent the backslashes.?

Ask your hosting provider that they will make disabled the magic_quotes option

did not help

had magic quotes disabled still profile text fields coming through with \ 's

I should also point out that once the slashes are in there, changing the magic quotes option most likely will not correct the existing entries.

So to make sure the change in the option actually did anything, create a new account and enter data with single quotes and see what happens.

It's more than likely existing entries will have to be corrected by hand.

even the new people signing up are having the slashes added

when I edit my profile it does not happen but when new members come on it happens
