Edit Boonex Credits

Hello Folks,

I'm working with Boonex for the first time, normally I use joomla, and the project is a bit sensitive to seeing the words "Online Dating" in the footer. The site owners are a funds limited non profit halfway house group home. I would like to edit the Boonex credits and remove that part, also from the logo "alt" tag too.

With joomla I could make this fix really easy with a language file edit, but Boonex seems to be a bit different. Is the language text stored in the DB? Where the heck is it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Gerald-

P.S. I think in the next few months we should be able to purchase the Lic, but not now.

A few things to help you out:

A copy of your install in a local folder.

A good text editor with a "search in files" function, like Ultraedit.

Search for the phrase "dating" (or any other keywords that you need to toy with)

That will cover the weird places like the default faq, about us, etc. pages.

Next, (I know you wont be able to find a couple of them and theres a reason why)

Get the plugin Firebug for Firefox and some of the neat add ons for that plugin.

Use that for determining/tracking down calls that arent in a standard format.

(Note, youll have to turn OFF the cache features under your admin panel > settings  > advanced settings > template section.)

What you'll encounter is some of that is encrypted. Thats part of the bonnex footers and you arent supposed to toy with them. Before someone climbs all over you about it, I'd contact a bonnex agent DIRECTLY and point out your case; its quite possible (and professional) that they'd take the 30 seconds to create a slighty modified footer for you. It'd seem logical that they'd want to make a sale and could easily secure one after a trial run for such a meager amount of work. (Is like 30 seconds to decrypt it, and another 30 to redo it) <--- 10 seconds of that is grabbing a swig of coffee Cool

I just thought of it too, they do have an option for a short term license. 90 days or so and its cheap. I'd toy with your site and get it near ready to go then purchase it to give your client enough time to save up for it. Theres also ways to recoup that $ if they are non profit- donations, state funding, etc.

Hope that helps!

Hello Ancientwolf,

Thank you for the comments I'll contact an agent tonight and link them to this post for review. As a webmasters, I do not mind paying for what I use and I hope my client sees the value of this code and opts to cover the cost.

Lightwolf, seems maybe you have had a bit of a hard time around the forums. Sorry to see that, I'll keep up on my posts and see how it goes. But for now I'm in good shape.

Thank you,
Gerald-

just a note here, if this site owner is truly a non-profit registered, they can speak to Andrew Boon and provide the non-profit status registration, and Boonex has in the past and i am sure will do the same in the future, contribute an ad-free license to the non-profit for a good cause.

Hello DosDawg,

The halfways house's 501(c)3 docs are not finalized yest so there is no cert # to pass on, but thank you for the info. In the mean time do you know an easy way to edit the copy and alt image tag in the footer area?
