FTP Configuration

I have read the forum and searched extensively.. now I give up and will ask.

Where can I put the FTP credentials so that I can remove old unused modules using the admin-modules-add manager system?

I see the ftp info for uploads at the bottom of the modules manager page (stupid place to put it) but the host is wrong and when I change it, it reverts back to  localhost host.

SO:

In Settings-Advanced-General Settings, there is no input field for the hostname.  Where can I make this entry so this damn thing will work?

can you tell that I am frustrated?

I read somewhere that there are issues with Dolphin's FTP. Occasionally it's best to forget some of the bells and whistles and use dedicated programs when they're available.

I suggest you use WinSCP, Filezilla or even your server control panel to remove unwanted files. Once a module has been uninstalled, simply go to the Modules directory and delete the module.

In my opinion, it's also best to add modules or module updates the same way.

And for uploading modules; they have to be packaged to use this feature and many are not.  Some vendors are still supporting 7.1 versions.

Thanks, John and GG,

I do use FileZilla for most of my uploads. What I was trying to do was use the Delete option in the Add/Manage modules section.  I did resort to using FileZilla to accomplish the job.  Just thought it was weird that the "build in" part did not work and there was nowhere to configure the server address.

Kind regards,

Gary

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
