Has 7.0.2 made changes to video coding and access?

I have a few sites that I was developing using 7.0.1 and had to jump through a number of hoops to get the videos to play as well as I wanted them to as they were all encoding at awefull resolution...

Have just started work on a new site using 7.0.2 and noticed the default video resolution is much better. Does anyone know if this is a fix in the update?

Also, the new version seems to be very very slow to access the videos after hitting the play button whereas the older version is pretty quick.

Any ideas whats changed here?

Both versions are running the same server so shouldnt be any difference on that end...

Yes, there is a difference. 7.0.2 is using h265 (x264) instead of the old flash codec. The reason it takes longer to start is because it is downloading the whole video before playing. The default setup for h264 doesn't support fast start.

Right thanks.

In that case, what would be the best codec/format to upload before the site conversion?

I guess with the whole vid downloading first, its best to keep the file really small if possible otherwise could be a loooong wait...?
