 first of all that is nearly 100,000 Emails, which is 10 * 10,000.

without looking at your site, do you by chance have a profile enhancement utilization on your site? meaning fake profiles?

seems to me that your match making making is firing crons according to instruction. 100,000 emails, in queue and only about 1000/day going out then this would take 100 days to process, however, thats not the end of it, the queued matches are going to resume to pile up in the database.

I don't even know what profile enhancement utilization is...but yes I have seen people make fake profiles which drives me nuts. Is this a module I have installed somehow?

Thanx for your time,

J

 well i would tend to think that if you have fake profiles on your dolphin site, then you would have to have known about it.

how many members are currently registered?

Only six fake members. I banned them all. I tried to look up info on profile enhancement utilization but could not find it. Anyway to give an update, I logged back onto my email and the 99,000 + were gone....WTF?

Correction...the 100,000+ emails are back....help!

Hi, I can't help with the emails being made but maybe with what you can do about them, if have not already done it.

Do you have a facility in your email to forward messages with particular charactersitics to a folder of your choice (including trash)?

If you do then make a rule that forwards all error messages to a particular folder that wya they will not get in the way of all your other messages.

Then just empty the folder (or delete it if emptying it is not easy).

I use an email provider called Fastmail (fastmail.fm) owned by Opera. They have very cool services that make issues like this one no problem at all. You can have as many folders as you want and set up email addresses on the fly which makes managing emails from your sites a piece of cake.

The snippet of the email you posted is showing that when the cron job tried to fire Dolphin couldn't connect to the database. The cron job fires once a minute so if TMD had database troubles for an hour or two the emails would really stack up.

If you are still getting these emails BUT you can access the site normally then something is wrong with the way you have the cron job setup.

Have you contacted TMD support?

ah heck, i totally misread this one, my sincere apologies.

so you are getting cron job emails in your inbox, not on the database.

yes, the report here as mentioned from mscott, is that you are receiving cron job emails, the cron fires every minute, so in an hour you would have 60 emails from the site when there are issues.

but from rereading what you have posted here:

Description: Database access error

this is reporting that your database connection is failing. so if you are getting thousands of these, then there would be a serious problem somewhere on your dolphin install or with  your  hosting service.

in order to understand what it is complaining about, would need to see the actual cron report on what is failing, and you would also need to let TMD know about this database connect failure.

because thinking on this, in order to receive 99K emails on this matter, this is what i have come up with:

in the course of one day, with a cron job failing, and firing a report to your email

you can receive 1440 emails per day

in order to receive 99K emails, you would need to be down 68.75 days

60 minutes in an hour 24 hours in a day

60 * 24 --> 1440

99,000 / 1440 --> 68.75/days

so yeah, you need to report this to your service provider, this is not a dolphin problem, dolphin is doing its job by letting you know the database is failing.
