How to change /m module directory?

What is the process of changing the /m in the module directory on the site to whatever I choose to name it?

I thought there could be some posts already about this, but I did try searching for them and was not able to find one.  Can you please point me to the right direction, where I can find these posts or at least the right keywords to use during search?
