When you enter "http://localhost/install/index.php." are you replacing local host with your sites url?

I tried that as well, but its same thing.

From my apache erro. log i have following error

[error] [client 127.0.0.1] PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in C:\\xxxx\\install\\index.php on line 541

Send that error to your host, they will fix it for you.

to install dolphin locally the simplest is to do with xampp

you will not need to install your own PHP or MYSQL

I think it is better to install everything - this is a pack - he moved almost alone -

everything is at the same time like a normal software

I have uninstalled PHP and SQL. I have disable my apache as well.

Installation of XAMPP went thru, it started Apache successfully but mysql does not start. Windows just does not like it for some reason. I am not sure why. I have checked whether i have another instance running but i don't.

While i was trying i came across another site, that explained what could go wrong if i am trying to install the XAMPP. So here is what i did (for future user).

Unistalled XAMPP

Rename c:\windows\my.ini

Made sure no mysql is running (from windows services)

I rebooted my system and the reinstalled it

It worked

Now, my next mission to start installing dolphin. I hope it works.

BTW, for further help on XAMPP use below link
