Links tab - where did it go?

In D6 we had a 'Links'  page, where did that go and can we have it back please!

I transferred all my 'links' to 'sites' - the only real difference is the snapshot - you have to create them all manually - a real PITA.

 AHA! You are wrong!

Once you load the link, wait 60 seconds and refresh the page. Keep refreshing until it shows up like magic. I posted on this issue a long time ago. The mod doesn;t wait for the thumbnail generation to complete and if it's not doen, it just skips it.

Hi HL. 'Links' was simple and straight forward it was easy to access as a tab in its own right. Sites is ok but the graphic (site front page) takes up too much room.

Is there something that the links page gave you that the sites module doesn't?

SkyForum, i do not experience the problem you describe re the graphic loading.

I would like to create a 'Links' tab in D7. I want to create a 'local directory' of services in my area. Sites is fine but too 'busy' and 'links' is more descriptive. Plus not all of the business's I want to add have web sites.

The links tab in D6 was ideal, can I incorporate that into D7 and the database?

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone else have a problem with 'Sites' being a 'Block' on there page as opposed to a page (menu item)?

It is both a home page block, as well as a navigation menu item. You can remove it from the home page via page builders.

I imagine you can re-add it back into the system, but I am not sure as to how easy this will be.

I converted my old D6 database entries direct to D7, so did not have the option to retrospectively add the images. I could have added them manually one by one, but with over 130 sites, I simply could not be bothered. Unfortunately the auto thumbnail is only possible when initially adding the site - and not when later editing it.

@Stuart

RE adding the D6 links section. It might be easier to simply create a new Links type module. The 'bloggie' example module used in the developers tools as the real-world example, would not require too much modification to do what you require.

I would say that I'll put one together for you, but at this stage I cannot commit to when - I'm simply too flat out.

If you're prepared to wait a little I'll write up a free mod.

DeeEmm, that would be great! Unfortunately this is one thing I cannot do for myself! I am more than happy to add my 'links' again...!

Thanks in advance,
