My website is very slow and I'm looking for someone that know how to

Hi all,

My website is very slow even though its not released yet and has no traffic at all.

The host company (Host For Web) says that everything is good on their end but still its very slow and it drives me crazy.

I read Andrew's article about the correct server settings and configuration but I have no idea how to do these things. I'm looking for someone who knows how to speed up Dolphin and make it fly like a rocket.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks :)

What kind of hosting service do you have?

VPS, Dedicated, or Shared?

start with your own checks, www.gtmetrix.com to check your sites actual speed.

I checked my sites actual speed with gtmetrix and I'm amazed about the minuses which show up. No wonder my members are complaining about speed. I suppose Boonex is aware of these bottlenecks ?

I use HostForWeb also, had a few sites on a shared host while setting things up then moved to dedicated server with them once my site was on the go.

Decent speed increase since.

If you are on shared server then it wont matter who its with, its just a gamble who else you are sharing the server with...

You will need to go either VPS of dedicated to get your site running properly.

Shared is fine for  playing around but not much more.

Try the site located on my other post and check your site speed and so much more. I was surprised at what info I got.

I think the issues  for speed are how you have your server set up and how many modules you load on your home page. Are you using the slide show for photos? If so, what are the sizes of those photos in KB? I've seen sites with some banner images at 3 MB and slide images upward of 1MB...that can really load a page down for loading on the user end.

i.e. When you have a index page with your members show, say you have it set for 24 of them to show on the home page, the database has to be accessed and those thumbnails for members, photos, sites, music files have to be displayed taking page load times very high.

The trick is to keep the index page minimal as possible then load up the other pages...

search the forums on how to speed things up. I did.

here is an example

Average Load Time for Boonex.us

Slow (2.157 Seconds), 68% of sites are faster.

Average Load Time for Duvallocals.info

Average (1.53 Seconds), 50% of sites are slower.

I don't know what happened, but since a couple of days my site flashes as lightning.  Gigapros must have done something about it and I'm very pleased about that. They won't hear me complaining again Laughing

Newton27 : sorry, I didn't copy it. I didn't know Gigapros was going to do something about it, since they support Boonex software. Of course I can highly recommend them now. They assured me that this speed will remain forever. I surely hope they will keep their promise.

WOWOWOW!!!!!!

THANK YOU GUYS!!!

I apologize for my late response but you guys are GREAT! :) and I will definitely use all this information.

I am using Host For Web and I am on a shared server. The thing is that even before I installed my only 4 mods it was very very slow.

Host For Web keeps telling me that everything is ok on their end but I logged in from 4 different locations and it was the same, very slow.

Thanks to you guys I now have some good leads and I hope I can make my website faster than lightning.

All the best to you all and thanks :)
