Navigation Menu sprawles from either side of page

Hello.

The Navigation Menu on my home page sprawls from either side of the page instead of being neatly in place like orginal Boonex template.

How can I correct this? You can see this error when you click on my URL at www.habibimatrimonials.com

I really appreciate your advice.

What a smart response. geez.

My point is, that is not the default uni template, so obviously you changed something.  Do you not keep track of your changes?  I know I don't keep track of your changes.

Replace your current templates/base directory with version from repository here - http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/browser/trunk/templates/base

PS: If possible do not write me personally, please try to ask on the forum first

Keeping track of your changes IS helpful advice.  Had you been keeping records, and paying attention to any unintended side effects of your actions, you would be able to backtrack, and figure out what you did to the base template that created this problem.  You have apparently modified some of the default files in your template directory.... something you should never do.  Sashe suggested you replace the default files in your templates/base directory.  That's good advice.  I would suggest you download a copy of your current templates/base directory for something to compare to the original.

If you want someone else to fix problems that you create, you'll end up spending money quite often.

Houston:

Okay I did go back through and I really never do anything because I have a great fear I will mess things up. With that said I have only added banners and on learning how to add pages to your webpage via the example that was given, I was fiddling around with this but did not actually add anything to the header yet. Other than this I really have left much of the template well enough alone.

I tried to deactivate the banners and see if this could have been the issue, but I do not recall how long this had been going on, if recent or in fact longer than I can recall. The only thing that caught my eye to the problem was when I was previewing how things are running through a test profile. And I saw that the banner ads I added are over lapping the Blogs page, which looks like a mish mash of wording. And that brought me to  the attention of how the heading is sprawling from far right to far left of the webpage. Which then makes one have to use the vertical slider. And that is not how it used to be.

I tried to delete some wording from header but still just elongates the existing header, does not shrink it at all.

I also added a video to the front page...

If I knew what I did wrong I would have surely corrected it on my own. I do refer to the boards here a lot and can do a lot of the little instructions that are very general in nature, but this one I just need help with.

The one instruction about:

Replace your current templates/base directory with version from repository here - http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/browser/trunk/templates/base

I do not even know how to begin such....

Ah, don't get frustrated or anything - every success is usually preceded by numerous failures.

He's telling you to write over what you've changed - just to start fresh.

Who installed Dolphin for you; how did you find what to change in the first place; what are you using to make these changes?

Knowing how you're doing what you're doing would be a help.  Not that I know anything lol - I just started with Dolphin a couple weeks ago :)

Just rename your templates/base directory on your server to something else, ex: templates/base2

Then re-upload the templates/base directory from the Dolphin distribution package to your server.  Clear cache directories.\

I'd highly recommend you download Beyond Compare.  It is something that you can use to compare files and entire directories/sub directories.  If you are unsure as to how your modified files differ from the originals, this tool will tell you.  It may help you locate the cause of the problem.

I'm sure you already know about Firebug.

Agent Ransack is another great utility that I use on a daily basis to locate text strings in files.  For editing files, nothing beats Notepad ++

One of the things I do, is add a comment to every file change I make.  The comment always includes a user name I frequently use.  I also keep full backups of my site on my computer/raid storage.  If I need to find every single change I ever made, I can use Agent Ransack to search for my user name in the dolphin source files that I have backed up.

I did not install Dolphin myself, it was my hosting company who did this for me.

The only changes I made are adding banner & Adding a Video to front page (that are very recently) (I did remove one of my banner ads which I would like to use because it enable me to do free advertising on other sites.)

I never ever changed anything to the "templates."

I did ask my hosting company for assistance but they referred me to Boonex.

Am I the first to have this happen to them?

Suggest you turn off all caching, and clear the cache directory, and see if the problem remains.

Yeah - if you're still seeing the issue delete the files in

[your root]\cache_public

[your root]cache (don't delete the .htaccess)

With regards to this suggestion:

Replace your current templates/base directory with version from repository here - http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/browser/trunk/templates/base

Is there a particular file I should look at? What exact file should I look to compare the one in my boonex file vs the orginal one?

Or I should replace everything from the link shown above?

Thank you!

Everything as they suspect you have damaged something but don't know what.

I suspect it just a setting. Specifically the page builder Other page width setting. So before doing that, check this first.

Go to page builders and select the homepage.

At the top you will see a slider for page width. Go to the bottom of that page and you will see another slider for Other Pages Width

Make sure thats set properly. I suspect it is set way higher then the rest of your pages. It is quite often missed becuse it sits at the bottom kinda out of sight.

Default is 998px.

If you have my Deanos Tools mod installed, my tools are able to reset all the page widths with one click.

Deano, you're right... I never bothered to look at any page other than the index, but page widths are all over the place.
