Ive looked online but unable to get a fix? Ive deleted all files of server and reinstalled etc, and completely deleted webspace and started again. It had drupal on prior, but them remembered Dolphin... Much better for the project.

Hello bbconnect!

It's necessary to look two points first:

1) inform us what errors do you see and in the what stage of the installation's open

2) provide the list of the error form your error log if possible.

HTTP ERROR 500
Quote · 13 Sep 2018

500 errors are usually, but not always associated with the .htaccess file in your Dolphin Root Directory. One example could be that the file is missing.

Please check that the file is there. Sometimes it's not immediately visible because some file manages hide these files from human eyes. Thus, it may be there even though you can't see it.

Look for a setting that says something like: "View hidden files" and make sure its set to on.

If you still can't see the file, upload it again from your Dolphin package. Try installing again and if it still doesn't work, get back to us.

 even without an .htaccess file - it would still work. Now, if the .htaccess file is corrupted or something like that - that could be the issue.

Sometimes due to specific server's setup, the default .htaccess file from Dolphin may rise the 500 error too. The code from the install/index.php may generate similar situations if some functions were disabled by security reasons (like fileinfo for example). Anyway, we need to see the error_log to be sure.

set_magic_quotes_runtime()

ask your host about this

are you using php 7?

caredesign.net
Quote · 16 Sep 2018

Yes, if the reason is in the line with set_magic_quotes_runtime function then it means your hosting uses PHP 7 which doesn't work correctly with Dolphin. You need to switch it on PHP 5.6 (the usual non-7 variant now).
