Orca forum

When I run the forums I get a page that comes up that has a lot of brackets around everything as per following example.

[L[Forums Index]]

  • [L[Forums]]
  • [L[Topics]]
  • [L[Latest Post]]
[L[Forums Spy]]

Please advise.

Michael,

hopefully you have found the resolution to this but if not thought i would drop a line on it for you.

in your forum as admin from the plugins directory if you will see the L wrapped with brackets [] looking to the right side of the page on the header area, you will see a link en this is the link to recompile your language string for orca. clicking on that and refreshing your browser will make the [] brackets go away.

if you are running 6.x you will also need to do this to /groups/orca when logged in as admin.

DosDawg,

In D6 there was a link you could click on to compile the language but in D7 the link is there but when you click it nothing happens. There is also a spinning graphic which is continuos but does not go away. Do you know anything about this?

Thanks!

I think you might be facing problem with regards to setting the folder modules/Forum RW rights to "755" that is write enable the folder...

I have permissions set on on /modules/boonex/forum/ to 755 with the owner as root. I have 2 installs of D7 with the same permissions and neither are working. I followed the install directions precisely. Now the files in that folder do not all have 755:

-rw-r--r--  1 root root   794 Jan  5 23:30 .htaccess
drwxrwxrwx  2 root root  4096 Dec 26 01:54 cachejs
drwxrwxrwx  2 root root  4096 Dec 26 01:54 classes
drwxrwxrwx  2 root root  4096 Dec 26 01:54 conf
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root  4096 Dec 26 01:54 inc

drwxr-xr-x  5 root root  4096 Dec 26 01:54 install

-rw-r--r--  1 root root  1206 Nov 13 15:41 request.php
drwxr-xr-x  3 root root  4096 Dec 26 01:54 templates

What do you think? Are you a linux man or did I just shoot you a curve ball? ;)

hmmmm, if the owner is root, what is the group assigned. how'd you install this and why would you install as root? that is a bad acting idea there. i just read that and thought i would need to let you know.

when you are stepping through the installation process is everything checking out?

i would suggest reading your logs, there will be some information in there for you.

also, go to the market and grab eKreativ's permission changer mod. sweet little peice of business.

Everything installs and does not give me any errors. I installed as root because some applications require root and dolphin did not stipulate otherwise. I am running D6 and it has no problems with forums and orca. Just D7. I will look into the permissions changer. Other than that, I have no idea what is wrong with D7 and orca for me.

UPDATE:

Problem solved with orca forums for D7. I don't know why but I modified my cronjobs for D6 and was able to compile the language in D7 and manage forums as well. Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issue between D6 and D7 running on the same server at the same time?
