Rename Admin Directory

Hi,

I will soon install version 7.1.4. But I want to hide the

Admin login page from brute force. How can I go about

in doing this?

Thank you in advance.

Lou

PS: Please give me the step by step procedure. ty

There is a free module in the market that will require a key:value pair to be passed when trying to access the admin page.  Let me go find it.

I'm afraid it doesn't support Oshio 7.1.4

Is there any other way to rename it? ty

Do you have a static IP address? If you do I would put an .htaccess file in the admin directory that would only allow access to your IP. If your IP changed for whatever reason you can change the file through FTP.

This is what I have in my Administration htaccess file in Dolphin root

Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from "xx.xxx.xxx.xx"

did you try to install it on 7.1.4?  I don't have a .4 site to test on, I do have it installed on a 7.1.2 site.  I guess I need to set up a 7.1.4 test site.

Install a test site with 7.1.4 and I will look at it.  I installed the admin protect on 7.1.1 and it worked.

@geek_girl

I just installed it on D 7.1.4

modules>boonex>adminhide

Please view the screen capture to explain the error.

Thank you in advance.

Make sure it is uploaded properly to the correct place in the modules.

it should be in /modules/raywint/adminhide

The instructions say to upload to the root, which with the directory structure that shipped with the mod should put it in the correct place.  However, I like to manually upload files to the correct directory.

That error is because it could not find the correct directory as outlined in the config file.
