 Here is my plan. I have a few domains that I never use, and I want to clone Dolphin into those. I tested before and it works by pointing all sites to 1 database, everything is working together (user register on 1 site will reflect on the other site etc..) except the uploaded media (I don't care about this). My questions are: 1- Is that going to mess up the database ? 2- Is google going to punish me for such practice?

That is not the way I would use the domains. I would simply point all domains to use the same web root. Yes, when they type in domain2 and go to domain1, the URL will reflect that domain2 takes one to domain1 Otherwise, just set up multiple sites. What you are doing could cause issues; files are stored in the particular root for each domain but the database is seeing files that might not exist on the other domain; if you follow me. i asked a similar question a long time ago, and ran into some crazy things - so i went ahead and purchased the mod by Scriptologist which crosses databases of 2 domains on the same server. I have not tried to add it on a 7.1.4 install yet though so couldnt verify if it would work or not. EDIT: Multi Dolphin Synchronizer caredesign.net |
