Suggest me good server- no ads plz

Right now i hav hosted my site on slicehost.net n paying 70$ per month on a 1 gb slice....... i think this is too much as a starter...

so plz tell me good shared servers & vps and plz tell me which thing is better for dolphin site- shared or vps....  n also tell me minimum required ram of server when hosted on vps..... plz do replly quickly...thank

Neither.

A VPS is not any better than shared in my opinion. They still run several on one server. The advantage is that it's pretty much isolated from everyone else as it's running as if it was its own machine and you have full control over it like a dedicated, but it's still running on a machine with many other VPS's running on it, so it lacks power.

I don't really remember the specs on the server i have there. I had shared there for years, but it was not enough so i picked up a low end dedicated. How much power the server has will depend on the server. I have a low end, so not much. Serves my needs. As for available bandwidth, i do not remember the specs on that. My DSL is not fast enough to give it a test either.

$70/mo could actually but you a small ded box (on special) or a fair cloud instance. VPS generally gives better control over your system than shared.

k thanks... n how much min ram shub b there in vps when dolphin site is hosted, my developer told me that server of  256 ram crashed wen tried to run my site ......  he said it wont run below 512 mb slice in http://www.slicehost.com/

What abt linode.com vps???? are they good??
