Theme & Modules Advice

I'm new and would like help picking a great theme and some 'must have' modules.

I already know I want the profile theme pack I saw (very nice), but what else really adds to a site?

I'm doing a PS3 and Xbox game site, and would like a really slick theme (dark colors I"m thinking, but I'm not sure).

Firstly you should know who will expected members of your website. Try to think as stand alone guy, what he will doing at your website? .. and try to suggest What. If your website will games related, try to have interesting information (as example in blog of forum) about games. Maybe some games module. But try to keep your website interesting and unique, no need overload it with Tons of modules (which mostly will non-useful). Try to search in google for competitor websites too.

Most of the sites in line with what I'm thinking are using Clipbucket or PHPMotion.  I think the features of Dolphin are going to make this unique.

I've found four modules I really like (just focused on making the site easier to use).  I've done a lot of Dotnetnuke, and I'm shocked how few items are out there in the way of Dolphin themes.

I thought it would take days to go through all the modules, but I'm already finished - and I looked at everything.
