Upgrade Instructions from 7.0.9 to 7.1.0.B1

http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/7.0.9-7.1.0.B1

Step 2 ¶

Uninstall "Wall" and "Spy" modules. These modules were changed a lot and can not be upgraded. After upgrade is completed you can install these modules again.

NOTE: All "Wall" and "Spy" modules data will be lost. It maybe that 3rd-party modules which rely on "Wall" and "Spy" data and functionality will lost their data as well or become non-working.

Uninstall "Wall and spy" Laughing

this does not make sense, wall and spy module is the heart of the site, if you uninstall this way, we lose almost everything important, all action for user , and comments that should appear in the module wall will disappear.

to reinstall this module should be possible to import previous actions of wall

These modules structure changed a lot, so the reinstallation is needed.

However, no one is asking the question that should be asked.  How is the database structure changed on the Spy and Wall modules?  Can we export the data from the database and then import it back to the database after the upgrade so we don't lose that data?

It's totally impossible for Spy module - some fields were added which values can't be updated for the old data, so it's impossible to use old data.

Timeline(former Wall) - reinstallation is necessary to update handlers for events, however old data will probably work (if bx_wall_events table is dumped before uninstallation and restored after installation), however it may not look good, because of new grouping feature in new Timeline module, anyway you can try and see how it goes.

However, no one is asking the question that should be asked.  How is the database structure changed on the Spy and Wall modules?  Can we export the data from the database and then import it back to the database after the upgrade so we don't lose that data?

I agree this is kinda depressing... throwing away 300k + rows of spy activity... sucks :)
