errors when i click certain links

I just paid for and downloaded the addfree version os dolphin 6.1. I'm test runnin on my sytem, but when i click links like

I get an object not found error.

What do i do?

Also, on a ligther note, is there any mod, or hack i can download which sort of forces users to invlte at least on friend when registering, and gives the option of grabing addresses from their yahoo or hotmail accounts?

try to check here or in answers about 404 and bad links, sure that you find issue

(again .htaccess that not working at your server)

Ok, where exactly search?

I doesnt found topics about 404 oder "bad links", but i have the same prob here.

make sure your htaccess file on server is the same as your package you installed with

for now, goto admin/settings/permalinks/uncheck all and save/....site will work

This htaccess file wants to make urls site.com/profile.php?ID=47 look like site.com/mike

for this you need mod_rewrite enabled

call host and email him your htaccess file and say hey man I need this mod_rerwite thingy to work, my site depends upon it! It makes my site really SEO frindly because google doesnt like?= in links

Once its enabled it will work.

OR

If he says it is enabled & you can do it with your htaccess then add this line below the Option indexes crap

RewriteBase /

save and see

that my friend is what returns when you search 404 Error, pretty basic search, it will also do complex strings, but that can come later, just get familiar with how to use the search feature. and fyi, not only on this forum, but for the most part all forums have a search feature.
