event participate

ok this might be a silly post but i cant seem to find where a user can participate for an event for example if im a user and see an event i would like to be part of/participate. how do i do that? where is the option to do that i thought you could do it right from where the event post is at but all it shows is participants not an option to click if i want to participate as a user please let me know thank you.

On the Event view page, there is a block with buttons. To participate in an Event, click on the button that says "Join". Please note that this button will not appear if the start date of an event has passed. You cannot participate in an Event after it has started. Also, the creator of the Event has the option to make it "invitation only". In this case, the join button will not appear either.
