Reputation + Infraction System

This mod consists of Two major Components :

REPUTATION
=============================

This is a Rewards based System that is member to member driven. A Member who has been impressed one way or the other with another site member (because of help offered etc.) can increase the Reputation of that member. Conversely, a member who has been negatively affected by another member can decrease his/her Reputation. The site administrator can set up any number of Reasons for which Reputation is applicable.(eg. Contribution in the forums). For each Reputation Reason, the administrator will configure the maximum amount of Reputation Points that can be given.

The most Reputable members are prominently displayed in a block on the Homepage.


WARNINGS INFRACTIONS AND BANS
=============================

This is an easier and more effective way to handle disruptive members of your community.

Banning IP addresses is often ineffectual; not only do most users IP addresses change, but software such as Tor is widely available and makes obscuring a users real IP address as easy as a click of a button. Furthermore, some large institutions continue to use Network Address Translation. Banning their IP may result in the banning of innocent users as well. Banning entire IP ranges suffers from the same drawbacks. There is also a consideration to be made regarding the severity of the disruption that a user causes. Sometimes, banning a user for a mild breach of the rules is overkill. This leaves the administrator with little recourse and tasks the community's staff with keeping track of the misbehaving users.

There is now a more powerful solution. Warnings,Infractions and Bans gives the Site administrators more control and flexibility by offering three options:

• If a user is misbehaving, a Warning can be sent from the user's profile with two clicks. A configurable message will be sent and the warning will remain active for a configurable amount of time.


• If the offense is more severe, an Infraction can be issued and will be kept active for a configurable amount of time as well. The site administrator can limit the amount of active Infractions that a user may receive before the software bans the user, again for a configurable amount of time. When a Warning or Infraction is issued, a configurable message is sent to the user, optionally explain the reason for the action.


• If the offense warrants removal form the site, the administrator can Ban the user directly from their profile. Further, the user can be automatically unbanned after a configurable amount of time.

When a user has been banned it literally takes effect immediately. Warnings Infractions and Bans will display a simple text notice to the user including the time they can expect to be unbanned.

Administrators can view every Warning, Infraction, and Ban issued and, if need be, remove them through the module's administration page. If a Ban is removed from the administration page, the user will once again be able to interact with your community immediately.

Through the administration panel, you may configure:

The Infraction Limit. Set a limit on how many Infractions a user may receive before being automatically banned.

Default Expiration Days. This is the amount of time that a Warning or Infraction will remain active and, optionally, count towards a ban.

Warning Notification - When a Warning or Infraction is sent, the user will receive a message informing them of the action. The administrator can optionally explain why the action was taken. In order to save time, a default message and subject can be entered for each type of action without limiting the administrators ability to further personalize the message at the time the action is taken.

Auto Ban Length - When a user reaches the Infraction Limit, the software will Ban them for this amount of time.

Default Ban Message - Administrators can configure the message displayed to a user when they have been banned.

Administrator have the ability to assign privileges to particular membership levels to allow those levels to warn, give infraction or ban members.

Administrator have the ability to disable warning/infraction/ban system and use the module for Reputation only.
