It is common practice to supply a change log when supplying an upgrade. Since there were no changes, how hard could that have been?
The same thing should be done with D7 upgrades. Boonex should supply a list of changed files and a zip archive that contains only the changed files. I'd like to be able to unzip the archive on the server without overwriting files that haven't changed.
exactly, and because RMS was purported as having the need to reinstall, which wasnt the case, many were of the belief that they needed to change their RMS because the name changed.
so the gist of this post is to let those know who have "shared" RMS or have installed on a dedicated machine. If the individual did not install the RMS and paid for the installation which many do, then they can save themselves a few bucks for the installation, because its not necessary.
I will also be see more reporting the DIFF on D7 Final for those who are interested.
Will also be trying to find the time to DIFF the Final Release and get a decent report back.
Here's a question for you John, since your hosting company does host alot of Dolphin sites, how did this cause "YOU" a lot of extra work?
Before anyone jumps in here, keep in mind that Terabyte-Hosting "ONLY" offers "SHARED" server space (perhaps they might offer Dedicated, not sure of that one) and therefore it's a simple fact that to cover "ALL" the RMS needs of "ALL" your clients that you would only have to install 1 RMS. After all, your see more clients who host with you "DO NOT" have the ability to run their own RMS, as they have to lease from you or someone else.
I vaguely recall a discussion on this topic between you, I and a couple of other people a year or so ago. Actually, in 20 days it'll be a year ago.
