Is there a way to add the Join form (Join Form Block) to the Homepage (for guests)? I'm trying to minimise the amount of clicks it takes to join the site and it seems even having to find the 'Join' or 'Sign-up' button on our site puts people off (from analysing Google Analytics on our site). Any ideas? |

Perfect, thanks for looking that up for me okweb!

i would have thought that was the purpose of the 'Join Now' Link. A join form on your index page is IMHO, harmful to indexing the site. you need relevant content on the index page, that join form should be linked to, and not be part of your initial presentation.

I disagree, The join form is very helpful to login when the promo banner buttons only work when they want to. The relevant content is easily found up to several pages deep by the engines.

the other part of this request says to add join form on index page for guests only, well there is no way for a browser to know you are a guest or a member who has not logged in yet. so the join form will be visible to all, guests and members, until the member logs in.

Pffffft! See ? you are off on your dolphin skills today as well! Open the block for the home page and select "guest only" Then the join form only appears if they are a new user or a member that hasn't logged in yet.
And I am pretty good at my SEO stuff. Sometimes, there are old wives tails that seem to persisit no matter what you do.

Yes. the initial reason for writing "(for guests)" in parenthesis was to clarify that the join form should not show on the homepage for logged in users. I should've used the phrase 'visitors to the website' instead of 'guests' to absolutely clarify this one ;) Gotta be careful on this forum ;)

exactly what i said, so its visible to everybody until they login, so its not just visible to guests, is visible to the general public.

Guest? Visitor? Same thing?
Well yeah, but my initial message seemed to get confused along the way :) Visitor I suppose could be a non-member or member, guest would be a non-member. Nothing to worry about.
