Upgrade already?

I just started using D7. If I upgrade to 7.1 then 7.2 to stay up to date on the software, will I have to manually change everything that I have customized or will it transfer? Ive worked hard on what I have so far and do not want to lose any information. Also, will the members accounts stay active?

Depends on what customizing you did. If you are altering "core" files (default files in package downloads) then its a very good possibility that an upgrade will overwrite it and you would need to re-apply the customization since upgrades consist of fixing bugs or enhancements that requires re-coding parts of the core files.. If you are talking about mods, the ones that you can install/uninstall from the Admin Panel should be just fine.

The upgrades do not affect the members accounts, so nothing to worry about there.

Well it depends on the changes really. I changed sexes and some minor details throughout my code, then when I updated those changes were thrown out the window, but Modules were still intact, member accounts just fine, content didn't change or alter, and it was really a very smooth upgrade for both versions. However, you will likely find (like the rest of us) a few new bugs that have popped up. I do recommend that you upgrade though, as there were a lot of bug fixes in both of those versions...just be ready to make some of your changes again and be prepared for some new ones.

Do you keep a log of all the changes you make?  Also, do you keep a backup of your mysql server databases? (something I learned the hard way about recently)

Anytime you make changes or modify your site, you set yourself up for potential issues upgrading. Especially with Dolphin. At the very least, you need to keep a text record of every adjustment or change you make. This makes reapplying the changes after an update much simpler.

There is a ready made from zero to 7.0.2 installer.

Should be a good choice if you do not need to migrate members from a 'test site'.

Welp, Im back in the states! Screw Iraq!

Im ready to start working on my site now but I am still in need of some help. Sorry, I apologize in advance, but Im a newb to all of this.

So I upgraded to 7.0.2 ...

Where do I get the info for RMS to get my chat video working again?

Also, after the upgrade, I saw a page that told me to do more to finish the upgrade. I saved it, however the page wasnt available when I went back to look at it. What do I do now?

One last thing, when I upload an animated photo, it doesnt work! Any idea why?

If anyone would be willing to talk directly to me and help out, I will give you my YIM name.

Thanks in advance for any help... Chris
