My site is slated to be released to the public not too long from now. As some of you know, I’ve been struggling with finding a work around regarding video recording function in cross browser compatibility. I really do not want to resort to flash only for video comments because of reasons: large file size and mobile devices are unable to play videos. Video comments is a vital part of my site and I want to find a work around for now as Boonex rarely releases fixes for RMS.
The only work around I found that works with h264 and mobile playing on would be to only video record from Firefox… there HAS to be a reason why recording output from firefox does not corrupt (garbled) the m4v videos… A browser is supposed to just pass on the video recording to RMS, nothing more. I can’t tell everyone to use firefox only.
Firefox is the only browser that passes on the m4v uncorrupted.
- Videos recorded with firefox plays great on PC: Chrome, Firefox, IE -- Safari and Chrome on Ipad and chrome on Samsung galaxy phone.
m4v = good
webm = good
Chrome and IE:
m4v = corrupted
webm = good
THAT workaround with firefox is what I want… if only I could get Chrome and IE to duplicate that. I do not want to wait another year when boonex blames it on buggy red5/RMS/FFMPEG whatever you call it because it is working correctly (not perfect but good) ONLY on firefox.
There has to be a reason that Firefox v.26 passes on video recording to RMS correctly.
