We have never been hacked at hostforweb. You may be referring to shared hosting. Which is largely succesptible to jump attacks. Their VPS and Dedicated hosting is far more secure and reliable. Where some may also fall short, is that When Hostforweb sells you a dedicated server, they are not taking over all elements of security, Some of this is your own responsability, as you have a complete system at your fingertips, they aren't running it for you, you are. You can of course ask them to do things see more for you, but never assume, this is when many get hacked.

I keep my servers with HFW and have had the following experiences:

1. Someone did try to hack, they spent about 70 hours attempting to get into one of the Deds and HFW worked around the clocker literally to ensure they never got in. Cost: $0.00 And it was on a dedicated server.

2. Under agreement between HFW & I they 100% manage all of my Deds and I never have to do a thing outside of make a request when I need it. Basically I pay a few dollars a month and HFW handles all the server see more management details for me, they will move a site from one server to another for me, upgrade/update server sided software, install & configure security items and just about anything else I want. Cost: Monthly plan agreement and never an extra cent.

3. HFW is not a re-seller like some others. Rather, HFW owns the servers & the building they sit in. This means when I hit them at 4 am on Christmas morning to do something they are doing it, not trying to wake someone else up. I did it, took about 10 minutes to get something done this past Christmas morning that I needed. Try that one with a re-seller. I'm pretty sure the majority are not reachable at 4 am their time. (it was 3 am HFW's time when I did that, 4 am my time)

In the end, HFW provides a safe & secure product that I host on and I more than willingly recommend to other dolphin masters. My Video and such all work because the servers are properly configured. Few other hosts can guarantee you that all will work when you go with them, HFW not only guarantees it, they deliver on every guarantee they give plus some.

I like their support - top class.. I had some problems with my server (timing out) so I asked them to move me to another server, since then everything's perfect..

buckmcgoo, MaxJ@HFW here, I see you posting negative things about us all the time, I am not able to bring your profile "Requested profile is not available". Could you please PM me or email max at hostforweb dot com with account / email details you had with us, that review is horrible, I hard to believe that you was hacked because of HostForWeb server's security, 99% cases is when user doing wrong install, wrong permissions. I'll investigate and post details here

My site was installed by a Boonex Expert and I had an attack at HFW. HFW then regenerated the same report three times and took my site down all three times for the one incident. Each time they didn't contact me until I had sent them an email asking about my site being down. The second time it took them 10 hours to respond. The third time the report was about a script that was removed the first time and they blamed me for not responding. I actually did respond and had a dialogue with their support see more people. In the end they just said "Anyway its up again now is there anything else we can do for you?"
Once the honeymoon period is over everything changes.

I use HFW servers and have no issues with them. Nothing is ever perfect anyway. There support has been excellent and I would recommend them to anyone.
therock
I have been using HFW for 3 years and have only had to contact there support for my site having server issues twice. I have had to contact them for help on other things and they have been very helpful. I guess some people have nothing better to do than to whine and complain and don't realize that nothing is perfect.
buckmcgoo
It's called an option, we all have one and have the right to express it. Only deleting the negative ones doesn't seem fair does it? I have used two other hosting companies and don't have a bad thing to say about either, so I guess they are "perfect". You just said you haven't had much dealings with their tech support so you don't really know what they are like. Having been with them 3 years and not been hacked is what I call "luck" and since you are whining and complaining about see more us whining and complaining you must not have anything better to do either.
therock
So then take your option and go somewhere else then, instead of posting your negativity here when their most likely are more than not that are perfectly fine with HFW. BY the way if you read my post properly it does not say that I have had very little dealings with HFW only that I have had server problems twice. I guess that would make it a good thing having to deal with them so little on server issues. It has nothing to do with luck, it is called the less you whine the better the service you will see more get as to where in your instance the more you whine the more they are going to push you away as they do not want to deal with your type. It also seems to me that you are the one that has nothing better to do with the amount of posts you have here full of your whining and complaining. Oh and by the way no hosting company guarantees 100% uptime.
buckmcgoo
So you have never been hacked because you don't "whine", that doesn't make much sense. I didn't "whine" to HFW once, I was hacked and they couldn't tell me why/how/when and I didn't renew, simple. Not sure what you mean about the number of posts I have here "whining and complaining". If you mean on this thread it's because Boonex keeps deleting them.

I have been using HFW for almost 2 years now. I had about 10 domains hosted with them. I had a few problems and they were quickly resolved (htaccess file and latency). They were quick to respond via email (my preferred method of contact) to let me know that there was a problem with the server and it would be resolved soon...."soon" was within the hour. Quick to answer questions and quick to resolve issues. For all you get, the pricing is great. I highly recommend!

While I initially gave HostForWeb a great review, I've been slowly learning that their IT staff, have a lot to learn. They seem to send a lot of their tech requests to their billing department, which is confusing (especially when your bills are all paid), but ok fine. But then they have no idea how RMS works, when they provide and RMS hosting service. And their techs are always blame happy, Refuse to read more then a few words of their trouble tickets, and you have to scream at them like a mad see more man to get anything done.
hfw
marcusaurelius, I have pm'ed you for details, please respond to get this investigated.
We are listed here not just because we are friends with boonex team, but also because we host thousands of boonex customers since 2002.
My current host will not change my shared account to accommodate the requirement for 128MB memory limits and Max file size. Can you do this for a shared account?
hfw
sunwest, all our boonex hosting servers are optimized for dolphin application including free RMS support.
memory_limit => 128M => 128M
upload_max_filesize => 100M => 100M

Please contact us directly via sales at hostforweb.com if any questions
I've signed up for an account at hostforweb (using promo code), transferred my domain, paid for the invoice...now it says the invoice is unpaid, and I don't see how to install Dolphin...did I do something wrong? How long does this usually take, and will there be a link for installing Dolphin after the CC payment goes through?

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
