Delete Messages from Trash

Ok. I am working on adding a delete button to the trash for the mail system in D7 per request from at least 3 people.

I have been studying this on and off today. I believe i have a solution to this, but it's going to required source changes to 4 different files.

So, does anyone know if boonex has done this already in 7.0.1? I don't really want to waste my time if boonex has already done this.

I honestly dont' think boonex is going to fix that.. yet.  It's not on the list.  :/  If not, count on me, I need to get this fixed.  :D

It's currently set for 7.1.  I don't think an official fix will make it to 7.0.1, but there's no way they should put it off until 7.1 .... that might be a year from now.

oh right.. it's in 7.1. sorry i'm not going to wait that long. This should be fixed a loooonnng time ago. :/

You know, you start doing things like this and you'll have 10,000 people asking you to fix all the things that are wrong with Dolphin.

I, for one, think that would be a grand idea! Maybe you should sell a 'support' package. You could sign people up for $10 bucks and then they would have to priviledge of installing the fixes as you create them.

No pressure or anything, of course.

Not a chance. I have my own plans that very few are aware of at the moment.

There is no way i am going to fix all their problems. That would only hurt me in the long run.

Anyhoo. The demand for this fix seems high enough, and as HL stated, it could be quite a while before boonex fixes it, so i guess i will work on it.

Just so everyone that applies this fix to D 7.0 is informed, there are a ton of changes to the files that are modified with this fix from 7.0 to 7.0.1

Looks like the mail system got quite an overhaul.

The 7.0.1 version diffs..... so far:

templates/base,scripts/BxBaseMailBox.php ( 37 diffs)

inc/classes/BxDolMailBox.php  ( 9 diffs )

inc/js/mail_box.js ( 2 diffs )

mail.php ( 5 diffs )

For... a grand total of 53 differences in the 4 files between D7.0  and D7.0.1  Add the 7 changes that this mod makes, and the total is 6o diffs. 


Modzzz..... you might want to skim over the 7.0.1 version of these 4 file to see if anything will need to change in your modification code, or if the insertion points may change.

Thanks for that mod modzzz. Tried it on 7.0.1 and it works well though during the install of your mod I did leave out STEPS 3 & 4 as I don't think they applied to the D7.0.1 version. As HL pointed out, there are differences between D7 and D7.0.1 and I am assuming this mod was written for D7. Is that correct?

Or have I missed something?

The mod is compatible with both versions. Please state your reasons for omitting Steps 3 and 4.

Yes you are of course correct. I couldn't find the two lines in steps 3 and 4 earlier to insert your additions so naturally assumed it must have been due to the differences between D7 and D7.0.1, but I did now after having a better look so included both those steps and the mod works perfectly.

Thank you for creating something like this. We're lucky to have members such as yourself to fill Boonex's holes. Much appreciated.

I tried this for D7.0.2

It worked but I was then unable to send any emails.

I also have this mod in 7.0.2 and just tested it.  It works great for me.  Sent an email to a second account, got it, and then replied to it.  Plus I was then able to delete both.  Check your code.  First time I tried it I messed up just a little.  It's very tricky.  Best of luck.

Ok, installed and working well. I don't know what I did wrong the first time...

I finally got around to utilizing Modzzz's Delete Message Fix.  Too many members were starting to complain about this issue.

Thanks Modzzz.  This mod seems to work great.  Changing all the files took a few minutes, but everything seems to work perfectly.
