Remove those big register/login button on pages?

How do I remove those buttons? It literally turns me insane. On every single page! And worst of all I still couldnt manage to remove the buttons on index once the person has logged in (I have the promo enabled for logged in users and edited per html editor).

Any advice is appreciated. I really especialy need to turn off those buttons for every page except index.

As you can see above, the login and join button still exist after I logged in!

This is the same topic...You see the issue now though right? It exists and I think it should be fixed.

i saw it the first time after you took the time to explain. anyway no need to create more then one topic for the same issue and alex has warned you about it a few times.

Ok im glad :)  did you check my other post too? I mean you see the issue too right, the one with the text indent.

yes.

Ah no wonder this doesnt work. Usually there should also be the "welcome back" message which doesnt display in the banner either.

Quote · 10 Dec 2012

It is functioning exactly as it was designed.

Either the entire splash is displayed for a member or not.

The buttons and banner no longer change when a member is logged in.

So this is not a bug. It's just a crappy design. There should be two designs available. One shown to guests, the other for members. But it is working exactly as it was designed to work.

Then they should change it. It is pretty bad. Why would they want to show the button after logged in? If a user also accidently clicks on login again the layout breaks until they click somewhere else.

If they want dolphin to function as intented then they need to clean up this mess because is not a professional approach.

Quote · 10 Dec 2012

Is this included in the bugs list yet?

Quote · 11 Dec 2012

Why would they want to show the button after logged in?

You know you have the option to simply remove the buttons from the html promo banner.

The banner, IMO, was made generic, leaving us to design it for our own sites.

Since there are buttons already above that in the main menu/logo area, why would you incorporate them in the promo.

Removing the two buttons is my first step, then changing the entire layout of it.

I know you know how to remove them but I'm going to post anyway.

<div class="bx-splash-action bx-def-padding-sec-topbottom" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px;"><button class="bx-btn bx-btn-primary" onclick="window.open ('join.php','_self');">Join</button> <button class="bx-btn" style="margin-left: 10px;" onclick="showPopupLoginForm(); return false;">Login</button></div>

It seems as though with some modification it might be coded to only show for guest, that's beyond my scope.

It worked with Dolphin 7.0.9 so that must be clearly a Bug. Is AlexT in holidays or something?

Going to keep this topic alive :/

Do you realize what I said earlier?

If you select to show the promo on all pages, for "logged in users" as well then your going to have to manually edit the html to remove the buttons.

If you look at the html for the banner, you see there are no options to "hide" the buttons for logged in users.

Your seeing that on the boonex site because that is the default setup.

If your saying the banner does not go away when you login that is a different story. When set to "hide" for logged in users.

I mean look at this site, http://mynewbeetle.net/ there are login buttons top right so no reason to have them in the promo header.

Or am I missing the point?

The header/promo banner in 7.0.9 and 7.1 are completely different in all aspects.

But you agree that this is definately a bug right?

Log in to the boonex demo, enable the promo and buttons are still there. Click on "Login" and look what mess happens. I dont know why this issue isnt added in the B2 bug list.

Another bug I found is that in "Groups" the user status message shows next to the title "Groups".I have no idea why.

No, because the banner is up to you!

Your supposed to edit that banner to suite your site...It's a generic banner, they are showing you what can be done with it.

If you happen to use a template that gets rid of all the other buttons, then leave that in the banner, then when logged in have it not show.

I can't explain any more, I mean ANY code can be put there, and they actually warn you..

NOTE, THAT IMPROPER USE OF HTML MAY BREAK THE SITE LAYOUT.

You can take that promo/banner "code" and use in 7.0.9 and it will perform the same way..

I agree with newton. It is not a bug. Your just not understanding how it now works. This is no longer dolphin 7.0.9 and many things do not work the same way. The promo was replaced with a simple html splash area. It is now one entity. The entire thing is ether displayed for members or not displayed. The buttons are part of the splash as a whole. They are not controlled separately.

I did not use the html editor, neither did I change anything. I used the valid live demo on this site, went to administration and checked the "show for members".

This is Clearly a bug. If boonex gives you such a option for a banner and the banner still shows the login and register button and those tend to break the layout then how is this normal?

This is an entity but it should work correctly. Disabling the buttons for logged in users shouldnt be a problem.

This did not happen on 7.0.9 so this is clearly a bug, why?

1) They give you the option and that option doesnt work correctly

2) It breaks the layout

just remove those buttons, if anyone wants to join / login there are other ways to do it.

can I set some sort of "If statement" and where? I kind of want to keep those buttons if possible. I know that I can disable them completely but some people might not notice the breadcumb ones.

Or I might have to design a splash page instead, but im no pro at this. Any free splash pages in the market?

Quote · 11 Dec 2012

I"show for members".

Not a option.

Here are the options. And i will explain what they are.

Visibility:
disable
show on homepage
show on all pages
Hide for logged in users:

Disabled. When that is set. The splash will not be used at all
Show On homepage. When that is set, the splash will be shown on the home page only.
Show on all pages. When that is set, the splash will be shown on all pages.

Hide for logged in users. When this is checked. Which is checked by default. Then the splash is shown only to guests and hidden for logged in users.

It does exactly that. When Hide for logged in users is unchecked it will show the splash for logged in members as well. This includes the buttons because they are part of the splash. This is normal, and exactly how it was designed. You are for some reason thinking the buttons and the background image are two separate things and controlled separately. They are not.

If the splash supports PHP then yes. But considering it appears to be like a HTML block. Not likely.

I understand that they are a single entity but is there no work-around? or at least are there any tutorials on how to create a splash page for dolphin, like the one facebook has?

there is a big conversation running on here.I too was wondering on this.I know its not a bug but the modules design is not okay compared to modern sites. It would be nice if we had the following option.

  • I see that the splash screen can be disabled for the logged in user. But it would be better is there is an option to show the same splash screen without a login button [or]
  • It would be nice to have a option to add another splash screen to show if the user is logged in.

The current design is just not helping the system to make easy design.I prefer to have same splash screen for both the user but having the login button is missing the point once the user is logged it !
