No. this looks like XML overload bug that many people have reported and many of us are aware of. But i don't believe a solution has been found yet. I believe DosDawg was working with Rays on this one to find the problem. You could message him and see if a solution has been found.

Hm. Apparently, that's the ticket AlexT linked to in the related topic. I don't understand how that has anything to do with XML.php spiking, though.

Edit: This is apparently the correct changeset: http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/changeset/13924.

For every person on the site no matter a member or not if the simple messenger is installed the file gets called on ever page you navigate to. Times that by 100 users surfing the site it adds up to alot of resources fast....

heck on alot of sharded hosting thats the # 1 reason to get banned...  or the famous  you need to get a vps or dedicated server because you have 10 people on the site..   seen it atleast 50 or more times in the past year and every sever log i look at its always the same reason    /flash/XML.php?module=im.

o yeah did i mention this file gets called every 2000 miliseconds per user by defualt.

I would understand that calling the Flash messenger, but not the simple messenger, which has nothing to do with Flash.

Your account was suspended due to overloading the server with httpd processes, and overall CPU usage of those httpd processes. Most likely one of the following is the result

- Your site had a brief period of high activity or overall downloading of specific files
- Your scripts are too resource intensive on a shared environment
- Your site may become more popular and time to upgrade to another solution.

According to him, that solves the problem. If you mean what happens to the feature, the simple messenger in your member menu (the bottom bar) is removed.

It will be if he uninstalls them two modules.  just uninstalling the simple messenger he went from 22 to 7 on server load. i would say thats well worth the trade off.   i would have to guess when he uninstalls the other one server load should be around 1 to 2.  Again to me well worth the trade off.

If people want  to chat go to the damn chat room thats what its there for.  Have it open in another window so people can surf your site and chat at the same time.

Also please do not do this:

uninstall every mod on your site and you should be fine lol.. (i know it was joke and magnuss knows it was but he may not)

the guy has 36 posts here and he might take you for real...   Again dont uninstall every module.

John and i spent a few days on this load problem and we came up with the best way we know how to lower cpu usage on shared hosts that turn your account off. we talked about it back in april some  time.

Do you have any suggestions on how to minimise its impact on the server load without having to remove it?

I uninstalled both messengers, and if you still want the shoutbox, just move the shoutbox to the dashboard page, this is what I have done on one of my site, and this way it splits the power usage. you should see  a difference.

if you use a third-party RMS server will reduce the load on my VPS ?
I use common RMS server hosting provider

Quote · 20 Aug 2010

Not that much. because the rms has nothing to do with simple messenger, nor the shout box. only video chat and video record for the comments.

Reducing your load with the dolphin, is a never ending battle, you will have to use as many tricks as you can, and may have to reduce your mods, or just pay for the dedicated server if you can afford it every month.
