For the 50th time, REAL TIME COMMENTS, REAL TIME COMMENTS, REAL TIME COMMENTS.
Less bugs, less bugs, less bugs, you know, those core bugs that you guys have IGNORED for the past 5 years or so that people are still complaining about, yea, those bugs.

Responsive Templates, PKForums, will update with more extensions later.

Im guessing this question has something to do with d8, right Andrew?

Btw, I know real time comments and less bugs are not extensions, I just feel that they shouldn't be overlooked either, and that the real time comments are imperative to have because the object is to keep them onto your site, and most people aren't going to be checking their emails constantly for updates, not to mention the emails that are sent to the spam folder that they may never look at either.  Most people are lazy or their attention is just kinda short (actually they shouldn't have to run to their emails or press REFRESH a gazillion times either) its 2014, and there should be no reason why dolphin 7.x or d8 doesn't/wont have real time comments (and notifications).

If was give the choice of only one that I could have incorporated in to Boonex it would have to be Master Database Backup http://www.boonex.com/m/Master_Database_Backup_2010_12_29

 RE:

Well, since 99% of people that download Dolphin seem to be either porn site wannabes, or dating site wannabes, I'd have to recommend: http://www.boonex.com/m/advanced-video-embed-3-0 which allows you to embed videos from every sleazy porn site on earth.

For all the dating site wannabes: http://www.boonex.com/m/Sexyhorny_Dolphin_V7_0_Boonex_Templates   It must be a good one... it's by Boonex... isn't it.

That pretty much covers it.  If you're among the 1% building some sort of professional website, you're S.O.L.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.
4 Jun 2014

1. Make Boonex natively responsive using Bootstrap 3. Using Bootstrap is very important in web technology right now. It makes it easy to customize your own template and add cool features and plus it is well documented so people can trust it. People will still use the IOS and Android apps so there is no need to worry.

2. Make apps for Windows Phone, IOS, Android, Amazon Phone OS (I think it's the Fire OS), and Blackberry. I think Amazon phone let's you watch 3d videos without using 3d glasses.

3. How about web RTC for video chat? It is open source. http://www.webrtc.org. Right now it is compatible with Chrome, Firefox, and Opera, but they also give a tutorial to use it with an open source third party module that allows Web RTC to be used with all browsers including all mobile browsers. This could be the free fix for the highly demanded HD webcam chat solution within Boonex. All webcams are connected using peer 2 peer using javascript so it provides privacy and saves a lot of bandwidth on the server.

4. Add WebRTC to the mobile apps so people can talk with webcams on their mobile device.

5. Real time comments with the ability to MODERATE THE COMMENTS from the admin panel. I had to disable all comments on my site because I can't moderate them and some people posted some really hateful things in response to a video they didn't like. Happy people saw the mean comments and it made them sad. Alternatively, you can add the option to use a disqus comments mod in place of the Boonex comments mod. I have several communities using disqus and they can all see what is happening on my other sites that also use my disqus comments. This creates user interaction across multiple sites.

6. Create an option for a Vine structured display for the videos section. Do the same with the photos section. Use autoplay for the videos. Kind of like Evo Wall, but more like a Dolphinized Twitter option.

7. Include a very precise realtime analytics module for big data in the boonex admin section. Big data is where the internet is headed. I currently use Piwik for analytics but I don't have any real data mining software.

8. Include a google or bing automatic website translator mod so the website is automatically translated according to the user's web browser language. I have tried both bing and google and I like bing better but there is an annoying block the always pops up in the upper left hand corner of every page. If it weren't for that, it would be perfect.

9. Include support for magento ecommerce software. I saw a mod for presta shop, but magento is the best one.

10. Include support for all of the popular api's on the internet such as iheartradio, soundcloud, embed.ly (like rayz 3.0 videos, photos, sounds), twitch, and anything else you can find.

11. Change the file system so every user gets their own folder containing all of their information, media, data, etc. instead of having single folders with huge amounts of files. For example, the videos folder would not be too practical if there were millions on users because the folder would be too big. I have a hard time moving or copying the video folder to other areas within my cpanel.

12. Give the option to have the user's username on a subdomain like Tumblr so it would be CoolFriend.mysite.com instead of mysite.com/CoolFriend. That way every user gets their own "web address".

13. Make it so members can interact with other members on different Dolphin sites. For example, if I have a hiking site I would like it so the hikers can seamlessly interact with members on my cooking site. To create a NETWORK of NICHE SOCIAL NETWORKS instead of just one niche social network.

14. Include support for JW Player. JW Player is cool because I can change the skins and put google adsense in the player to make money from my member's videos. Also, give the option for the members to put their own Google Adsense on their videos to give them an incentive to participate and sign up with the site.

15. Allow google adsense or and other code to appear on the photos so people can monetize off their member's photos. Also, give the option for the members to put their own Google Adsense on their photos to give them an incentive to participate and sign up with the site.

16. Make the videos, photos, etc. have two lines underneath for the description or perhaps use a larger video unit container. The amount of text under the video is just too short to give an interesting title or description. I increased the size of my units to match youtube's video units and more people are clicking on the videos now. Add a sizing option in the admin panel.

17. Allow the videos to be played in it's original bitrate, size, and format. Especially with 4k videos. If people are paying to upload their video then I think they should be able to show their video at their original quality. Maybe you can have this as an option in admin.

18. If what I am suggesting is too much for the current Dolphin price, then raise the price and include all of this stuff. But on the other hand, the current price is a bit high for me but it's ok.

19. In admin when I set the photos to be embedded, on the events, groups and all other modules, people can still upload photos when they create and make postings. This needs to be fixed. Some people do not have the server resources to allow members to upload unlimited photos. Make it so the photo embed preference works for all of the modules and not just the photo upload module. I had to remove the ability for members to upload images when posting ads, events, groups, etc. because of this.

20. Have a "mode" where people can't search for other members and so there is no "central zone". Make it appear to be distributed or decentralized. For example, like Facebook, people can't search for other members and search for groups, etc. from a dedicated central place. I think it is better for people to discover these things through posting, reading posts, viewing friend's profiles, and staying active. I think what I am trying to say is to provide an option in the admin section to make the site be for "people you know". The reason why the old Myspace failed was because people where searching for other members and sending friend requests to people they don't know and Facebook is popular because you can't talk to strangers and you don't have to worry about your information getting into the wrong hands because of a central "hub of people". If I am on a social network, I might not want anyone to know I exist except my real friends and family members that I really know. The new kind of social networking.

Dolphin what is it good for? Yes sex sites.

One of ur trusted vendors told me he could build a chat with pay for view per minutes. But he couldn't. I have waited 1 year now but nothing happends.

So why not make the chat little bit more advance. I guess some of you guys must know how to develop this chat with possibility to have pay per view on the chat.

And also make the chat working in iphone and all of the mobiles. Otherwise i can't see anything good with this Dolphin in the future. How can you be a successful site with no working chat in mobiles.

I have a basic question.

How does Boonex take a module from a vendor, not a free one, and add it to the core?

Is there an agreement made or payment?

I'm just curious how this process works.

It appears I'm interpreting the purpose of this forum differently than some others.  I was under the impression that Andrew Boon is planning (or at least considering) to put together a list of what many consider as the "Essential Add-on Modules" for the default Dolphin Package.  I don't think his looking for suggestions on which modules should become *part* of the default package.

Yes, I think that is the main idea.  Andrew mainly posted this topic to draw attention to his note:

http://www.boonex.com/n/suggest-extensions-for-essentials-collection

However, over at the note he states (highlighted text by me), "Please, suggest Extensions that you think are of key importance for just about any new Dolphin-based site. Things that, one might think, should have made it to the core package anyway. Anything that you think is important - core mods, admin tools, templates, modules, plugins... anything."

So I guess one can get the impression that he might be thinking about moving some of the free mods into the core; since they are free they would not take revenue away from the vendors/providers.  Of course Boonex would need permissions from the vendors that own the code.

Geeks, making the world a better place
4 Jun 2014

Maybe thats why lots vendors now suggest their own modules? They just not get it or just  Money Mouth ???

Anyway this call for suggestions only make sense if its not allowed to post your own module. If not I consider sending modzzz a message to take part now. Even better, Boonex sends a broadcast to all vendors bringing in their advanced, unparalleled und unbiased opinion what is essential for every dolphin customer. They all must know what's best!!!!

Check my GeoDistance, Watermark, TorBlock and Android Push Notifications mods | http://goo.gl/H3Vp81

GG, that's one way to interpret it... another way is that A.B. is saying it's okay to list "Anything that you think is important - core mods, admin tools, templates, modules, plugins... anything." ... where "core mods" would be modifications made to the default Dolphin *core* code to improve it (e.g. as suggested in forum posts).

That is the correct interpretation.  Topics like this are useless... as this one has so quickly demonstrated.  That's why I couldn't get myself to post a serious response.

My list of essentials would be a short list, and have nothing to do with third party extensions.

incomplete!!!!!!

Software usually is what it is and everybody is free to choose what they need. Somebody need minimalistic functionality, other people want a lot in one place. Saying "incomplete" and making anti-advertising for any piece of work just because it doesn't meet your requirements, at least inappropriate.

The above picture is incomplete. Is it?

Interesting comparison... "complex" software that is typically improved upon through many versions *after* it's put into production use (and often by more than one programmer)... compared to a work of art that one artist worked on and is typically never changed once it's released to the buyer (or displayed to the public).

http://pkforum.dolphinhelp.com
5 Jun 2014

is typically never changed once it's released to the buyer (or displayed to the public).

Actually there was 4 versions of this artwork. By the same author. And all of them was pretty much the same.

Well, you know what I was trying to say. You can't have all products on the market to match your taste. But it doesn't allow to say that something that doesn't meet your requirements is bad.

5 Jun 2014

Was his criticism of your module rather blunt... absolutely.  Do I agree that each developer typically does his/her best (within their skill level, available time and energy) to create a product that most buyers will find an asset to their website... yes.  Can a developer (aka vendor/provider) create a module that EVERYONE will like... no.  BTW, I've purchased a few of your modules and been happy with them. :-)

http://pkforum.dolphinhelp.com

Can a developer (aka vendor/provider) create a module that EVERYONE will like... no.

That's correct. If we'll try to make everything perfect, we'll have no time to move forward.

And actually, software is a piece of art inside. User just will never see it.

Those sound great to my ears... But some are missing::

Such as;

Android And Iphone Push Notifications for Dolphin,

Deanos Tools
Actions Manager

Template Responsive

ThumbnailInMail

AJAX Global Search Like Facebook

And I do believe Boonex should charge Extra for all those improvements.. We are not talking about bugs fix here. We are talking about Upgrading dolphin. Therefore; at least $150 to $300 Extra will be a fair deal. And I am not talking about just the new  License:

What I am saying if we are asking for all those great improvement that fine but we must support those improvements with Extra $$$!

Thank you for suggestions both here, and in the main post comments! Much appreciated! Although we know of many of these products, it really helps to know what you actually use and recommend.

Yes, the intention was to create a Collection of the most "universally" useful Extensions, so that new web-masters could see the potential of Dolphin core improvement whatever is the purpose of their sites. We are not going to "assimilate" those products into Dolphin default package, since we do not have the rights for that, and even if we did, there's still a lot of upsides for many products being distributed, supported and updated by 3rd-party developers.

In fact, I should say, that in the future you would likely to see fewer, rather than more features included with Dolphin packages, while we'd be concentrating on delivering a better platform.

Clients of mine are too overwhelmed with the amount of default modules.

We may see Dolphin as easy to install and start up, but that is just us.

I didn't mention Deano, his modules are a given need on all Dolphin installs.

Yeah, I kind of like the Poker Module :)

I'm testing a possibility to add support for Dolphin 7 as of this time of writing. I've released officially the game for other boards but a request to support Dolphin was asked. Although I don't have a licence but trial version allows me to easily add code which requires only authentication and avatar to access and to display in game.

Here is a demo which showcases support for IPS4 PreRelease version but picture as if you were using it for Dolphin 7 since you will be using same Dolphin 7 's credentials to log on to the game.

You mean HTML emails which is not really part of the RFC.

The answer is yes, you can send HTML emails.  If the receiver has HTML emails turned on, they will see the "web page".  Otherwise, they will not.  Some mail clients will automatically block remote content such as images because of the possibility of malicious content.  So yes, you can send it; what they see is up to how they set their email client.
