FINALS! Dolphin 6.1, Ray 3.5 and Orca 2!

After 7 months of active development and testing we are happy to announce Dolphin 6.1 Final, Ray 3.5 Final and Orca 2 Final. Right along comes SmartPro 2.

Dolphin 6.1 - Spunky

Dolphin 6 raised the standards bar in the community software industry, but we had a dream... ok, a few dreams. While 6.0 has already been a tremendous success, we still have requests for some major features and really wanted to bring even greater flexibility and power to the community site building process. Today, we are proud to report that the dream has come true.

Dolphin 6.1 boasts a very long and broad list of improvements, features and fixes, however, some of them are exceptional and often unique. We’re presenting features that you are very unlikely to find in any comparable software in the industry.

Pages Builder - it is only now that we can call Dolphin a 100% BUILDER. With the new Pages Builder, you wield unmatched control over your site pages by simply constructing them using Blocks (which, in turn, you can also sculpt the way you want). This includes setup of page width; number of columns of blocks and their size; adding new custom blocks and even creating whole new pages yourself!

Flexible Site Width - everyone has their own idea about the perfect site width - so here you go... In Dolphin 6.1 you can adjust site width for the entire site or for individual pages instantly with a simple slider that makes the whole process a breeze. You can even go for 100% width and impress your community with fluid site design.

New Comments - comments is where 50% of community site activity takes place, and Dolphin 6.1 is the absolute best when it comes to comments handling. Fully ajax-based, with unlimited nesting, delayed editing and instant voting - just that - the best.

Google Love - Dolphin is now completely search-engine friendly. All content pages have friendly URLs, which dramatically improves your chances of becoming indexed by major search engines. This is a major improvement and should improve your traffic. Be careful with this one - Google may think that too many URLs have changed and may actually penalize your current site. So, we recommend putting permanent redirects from old URLs to the new ones to avoid problems. This may be shaky after the update, but in the long-term or for a new setup - the new links bring a tremendous advantage.

Mac Love - It looks like Apple is on the right track and the number of Mac users is rising rapidly. Dolphin 6.1 has received the proper Mac-compatibility treatment and testing.

Couple Profiles - now, properly implemented and integrated into the system - couple profiles returns with a glorious come-back to Dolphin.

Fast And Powerful - just as the name suggests, Spunky loves challenges. In 6.1 we stressed attention to speed and scalability. Vast amounts of the code were rewritten according to the new standards, and now you get software capable of running on a clustered server setup handling large online communities. Dolphin is small enough to be managed by just one person, and big enough to power the “next MySpace”.

Hacker-Safe - finally, security issues have been addressed. Dolphin has passed all rounds of Hacker-safe certification and all vulnerabilities and exploits have been patched. Moreover, this is now an ongoing process for BoonEx - we’ll keep checking and updating - for you to feel safe and secure.

Much, Much, MUCH More - articles posted by users; member-login pop-up; dynamic RSS loading; new homepage promo system; voting spam prevention; invitation-only registration; HTML in blogs and more, more, more. Tons of tickets have been implemented, bugs fixed and improvements applied.

Almost no file has remained untouched. Most modules have been re-written and migrated to classes. Integration with Orca and Ray has been improved. All-in-all - it’s a major upgrade, highly recommended for all current Dolphin users and raising the bar again for BoonEx programmers.

Ray 3.5

The Ray update is no less spectacular than the Dolphin update. It’s a huge advancement - starting from the features side and going on to the core structure and up through the Media Server.

Ray widgets are now being built on the new Flash 9 platform, which improves the back-end and presents a whole new set of opportunities. In 3.5 we improved all widgets, but Video Chat and Video Messenger are practically re-born.

Video Chat - now with the long-awaited 1-to-1 private chat rooms; tabs for chatting in multiple rooms simultaneously; an integrated help system; new settings pane; addressed messages; whispers; password-protected rooms; room status text; “who’s viewing me” tracking; profile preview; floating, resizable and full-screen videos... and a whole new layout. How’s that for a new version!?

Video Messenger - all new layout; status messages; files transferring; integrated Video and Music launcher; help page and settings for just about everything - video, sound, fonts, skin and smile-sets.

Orca 2

Orca is our modest, but mighty forum script fighting on the saturated ground of online forums. Fear not - Orca is not going to give up. The new Orca is still 100% AJAX-based , but now it packs multi-lingual support via language files; improved search-engine-friendly URLs; better integration with Dolphin and much faster loading speeds.
