First, the long-awaited "6.0-To-6.1" Upgrade Pack is finally released. Feel free to upgrade your site, raise it to a higher level and boost your community with these new cool features. We are sure you'll want to take full advantage of this upgrade, so we warn you to please keep in mind this note before doing the upgrade:
Dolphin is now completely search-engine friendly. All content pages have friendly URLs, which dramatically improves your chances of becoming indexed by major search engines. This is a major improvement and should improve your traffic. Be careful with this one - Google may think that too many URLs have changed and may actually penalize your current site. So, we recommend putting permanent redirects from old URLs to the new ones to avoid problems. This may be shaky after the update, but in the long-term, or for a new setup - the new links bring a tremendous advantage.

Second, as was previously announced, the first Dolphin 6.1.1 and Ray 3.5.1 Patches are released! We have made the corrections to Dolphin footer and Ray widgets regarding links removal. It is strongly recommended that you apply this patch. Along with these corrections we brought a set of bug fixes in Dolphin, Ray and Orca.

I think I will let some other people do this first and report back. It is not clear by the initial post if it even removes the hidden boonie links (the circle with triangle in it at the top left of all Ray modules) as well as the video player and the music player, the Boonex banner that appears when you hit the Help button in Chat, etc...

I did exactly what I wrote above and just replaced the SWF files. I think I am good to go now :)
That was way easy and only took a couple of painless minutes !!

I removed both 'Polls' and 'Boards' from homepage navigation menu, they show such in 'Pages Builder' Unfortunately they are showing on the homepage menu and elsewhere. How do I fix this?

If you have changed builders then you should recompile PageView.inc file (just move blocks in admin panel->builders_ section by moving any block here.

Plz specify does this problem repeat ? What time of mail with this error ? May be it was sent when you were trying to make upgrade ?
Because if you have inc/classes BxDolEvents.php file with 644 permissions then everythign should be fine.

Most part of Dolphin code has been re-written, so unfortunately modifications developped for Dolphin 6.0.005 won't be compatible with Dolphin 6.1, but you can merge changes (carefully - do not rewrite original files), and apply mod changes
I encounter the same problem. Installed the 6.1 script from scratch (no upgrade from 6.0005) and now I'm stuck with the database.
What I am going to try is to import tables one by one, every time backing up my DB, so nothing gets lost.
And of course I still have a backup of my 6.00005 DB, so in the worst case I can go back and do the upgrade. Though that I really don't want to do, because I already had a lot of bugs in my database (security problems ?).

SmartPro 1.0.0005 means Dolphin 6.0.0005. Please make sure you have 6.0.0005. If you have not this version then you need another upgrade pack.

When they posted the previous blog entry about the fix coming, I posted a message saying we needed to point out all of the hidden boonies so they would be fixed all at once.
Some guy chimed in saying of course Boonex knew where all of the links were because they wrote the program and he click my message down with some thumbs down action.
Sure enough, they missed one !!

You cannot have more than one join page. As soon as you set any fields to additional pages in the join process you run in to problems.
I doesn't setup the account properly. It seems like it's not passing all the data from page to page.
There are several of us that can't upgrade 'til this is corrected.
Question is, how does this affect me upgrading to the new Dolphin?

$1,000 for what it does is reasonable. You can get oscommerce free for shopping carts but Netsuite will cost close to a $1000 depends on your needs. I just was offering (hopefully) constructive crit. in the hopes they can sidestep this in future and perhaps offer a suggestion... For free, I will wait and probably just reinstall.

Nevertheless, I found the Boonex site when version 5 was being released and saw the progress up to version 6.1
Hundreds of bugs later I think they came to a very nice script (stolen or not, PHP is open source) and during all these months I learned a lot about PHP scripting, SQL server and lots of other things which I never heard about see more
what is wrong and what should i do to fix it.

I'm sorry that you have not received a reply from our support team, but there is a reason: We are working hard on patches, upgrades etc. and all BoonEx departments take part in testing and helping developers to make these to improve the product quality. We do not divide customers on a paid or free basis, and we are doing our best to answer the multitude of requests which we get see more
I think people are frustrated because they email you and then do not even get an email back saying something like:
"thank you for your email. we are very busy right now, but we will deal with your problem as soon as we can. we will keep you informed when we start dealing with you."
Then update emails from you on when you think you can start ....
then people wouldn't be angry and frustrated on here.

1) Events- I can build an event as the Admin fine, it appears for the members in the calendar and listing, but I get 404 error upon clicking for details.
2) friendly links appears to operate fine with Bluehost
3) News is working for me -- snippet and full story (upon clicking headline)
6.1.1 gives me DB error message when Admin tries to create another event. The Admin can edit a member created event with no problem. A member can create an event, no problem. A member can view a member created event, no problem. There's something going on with the Admin created events.
Anyone else having this?

1. I had to disable ,htaccess to install the upgraded from 6.1. after completing the installation I enabled htaccess back and it gave me server error 500 so i when back and disabled the file for now.. should i be worried about this file.???
2. strange characters are visible in orca forum and next to block titles example " _name of block" there seem to be a underscore next to block titles and same in teh orca forums.. i think this was posted by see more

I upgraded, but I have a big problem with languages.
If I choose the italian language (previus translated) I have a lot o "lables" with "_" first characters (Ex: "_FieldCaption_Profile Type_Join") and if I try to search this string in the "language setting" menu I find it only for English language.
How can I fix it?

in 6.1 was added many new keys,
so your old translation incomplete, you should get new versions :)
I added new keys that are not presnt in both (italian and English) languages like "_Top Members", but if I try to add a new key present in English (es: "_FieldCaption_Profile Type_Join) but not in the italian one, the system don't let me insert it.
I suppose to edit directly the file in the langs dir, but now I have 2 files per language (for italian lang-Italiano.php and lang-it.php).
Now the questions are:
- Which is the right one?
- And what's the meaning of see more
but you don`t SHOULD edit it, your changes must reflect at database too, so better if you add it via admin (seems key always present, only value in specify language no)
Unfortunately all my 600 members are gone as well as their profiles , pictures, music, classifieds and video

Possible it was done by Cron's work which deletes all users (by default this parameter = 180 days from last logins).
For better investigation it better to provide us FTP and CPanel access of your upgraded site.

I am restoring the backup and decide later if i stick to this software or rather move on.
The whole point is that the software looks nice, but the programming of it, is just horrible. Sorry to say.
It is way too complicated at times and the process of uploading and chmodding is far beyond reasonable .
My other issue I have is that Orca needs PHP 4 which is very old and insecure, so I can't run it neither as I have php see more

And then import all old values of Email Templates from your `GlParams` table.

unable to create new users, message appears stating database-->database query failed.
I can login using an old test account. but new users are unable to submit any info from the join form.

i think you have to disable some php flag in the .htaccess. try expertzzz.com and query the forum for permalinks that should get you a few answers.

If you follow the upgrade instructions as I did to the letter then problems may (and will) arise.
In my example I was adviced that the empty database may have occured due to Cron task and that is to be removed in step 4, hence after the upgrade scripts has already run. ..... \o/ <- i give up right here and now.
Secondly it says do not upload and overwrite folders...just see more

I did an upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1 and though everything went smooth, one thing is bugging my site
If a hit on a member to view profile there is an error that doesn't allow the page to load and this is what it says...

I am trying to run paid dolphin with free widgets. After updating there was a Error:

www.myfriendandi.com/index.php just gives me a box, I dont know how to get the site live and I guess the boonex people are really busy, I gave them my ftp and although in the past they have been helpful I guess they are overwhelmed at the moment, maybe not.

The site opens without errors, but the homepage looks like its on LSD as there are banner images fading in all over the page and flicking back and forth, also there seems to now be a layout issue where all of my field boxes are in a column on the left and there is big space down the right.
I'm hoping i just need to amend the layout in pagebuilder and kill those banner images

The Login is not working correctly with Internet Explorer.
With IE 6 the site ist pushed down and you can see the Loginbox on a grey background. If you scroll down the site appears. There is an error aaround line 2600 reported.
With the latest IE version, there is also a bug with the login form. The loginbox opens in a correct way, but the transperant border arround is messed up. The error that is reported here is in line 64 sign 1 with an undefined version.

The only remaining irritation is that some of the fields show a _ before the text.
i.e. _RATE PROFILE and _ACTIONS MENU
I've clicked the relevant (en) links in orca and that solved the same issue in forums, but the main dolphin areas still have several fields shown like those above.

I just reported it a few posts before, but no reaction until now.
Plus in the Event page I get some show page error similar.
After upgrade some page with IE have errors. I get a a warning in the bottom left side of the IE window.
If I click there I can find the oerror description.
I sent all my errors to support@boonex.com and Bonnex is slowly replay to my problems.
I suppose they are busy to solve all the problems they have about migration procedure :-|

1) with language keys. All the new keys I had added before upgrade are not working. Also any new keys created after upgrade are also not working.
2) I have my licenses & I am using adfree version, even after that orca is showing boonex footers. What could be the reason?

I don't know why nobody has mentioned this one. I guess I didn't either, but it seemed so obvious and major that i figured it would have been one of the first fixes out there.
Another question if it is possible to download a old version as well? Older but without bugs?
